Yeah you can, above every message box is a "Whisper To" box, type the name of the user in there, it will autocomplete when it finds the person.
You can have entire discussions in private by starting a new discussion this way, or you can have just a few posts in an existing discussion this way.
When you whisper, only the person you whisper to sees it. It used to be that admin (me) could see it too, but I didn't really like that ethically so I disabled it.
