  • i think fixed off road is just being different for the sake of it, fine on a cross bike or for basic bridleways/towpaths but for ragging down twisty singletrack with a few jumps thrown in it's a non starter, you would be having pedal strikes every 10ft on some of the trails i ride on round leith/pitch/holmbury hill way.

    saying that i wanted a bianchi san-hose ss cross bike that i was going to use for commuting and riding round the perimiter trail in richmond park but bianchi uk don't import them.
    i wouldn't have used it on the north downs/surrey hills or at the welsh trail centers but it would have been o.k for the tame riverside paths but i wouldn't call that 'off-road' cycling.
