She wants a non-compact frame, but one that is not too long in the top-tube (the eternal question)
We have exactly the same problem. Damn its annoying.
Arent pista's like 699 starting?

Go for the Bob Jackson, They can do anything and aren't rude and patronising.

bob jacksons (nice as they are) are old skool with horizontal TT unless you go custom,
one of the reasons i like my pista is that having short legs and long arms/torso i don't have any standover problems.
i don't know how the pista compares lengthwise to other frames but it doesn't look overlong to me.when you get fitted at condor they spec the crank length bar width and stem length, but if she wants specialist bars for women (do they exist?) there is an upcharge to pay. i paid extra for deda non-anatomical drops on mine.
although i had a few minor issues with my bike they wren't rude or patronising to me even though i knew feck all about road bikes. after buying mine (i spent a fair bit more as i wanted a few pimp bits) i would say whatever you buy get fitted properly i wouldn't contemplate buying a bike without expert fitting advice.
i don't think she would be disappointed with either a bob jackson or a condor but i think the BJ would have to be custom to get the semi compact geometry. -

if you want to 'try before ya buy' then putney cycles have bob jackson track frames in the shop at the mo -
ask for simon or dave as they know their stuff, they're top blokes and don't give the attitude you sometimes get in other shops

My Mrs rides a Fuji Track SE which we got on ebay for about 150 new. Its got 650c wheels which is a bit of a pain but she likes the ride which I worked out to be between 48-49cm. Its not for sale but she could try out Mrs N's for size if your living near brixton then keep an eye on ebay. It does have flat bars instead of drops now though and new tires and brakes.

yep, but add 100-150 for pedals and upgrades. I went for a wheel upgrade (CXP22 - OpenPro) a saddle upgrade (the Condor/San Marco saddle is a new standard in discomfort) and a tyre upgrade (to something vaguely puncture proof). I reckon this is the minimum and the good thing is that you only pay the difference if you spec them at build time.

I just spec'd a Bob Jackson Audax end to end for a female friend of mine. As it was off the peg they dropped a 1/2in the seat tube to make the top tube shorter. Good service, beautiful bike. My friend has picked the bike up from Leeds and is riding to Sicily via Portugal. I'll let you know Christmas time how the bike holds up...LOL

I got my girlfriend a Fuji Track. 700c wheels. She loves it!
My girlfriend is having a lot of trouble finding a bike that fits her. She rides a size 49cm and currently rides a Langster which she hates! So we thought about a Bob Jackson as they are a bit cheaper than Mercian.... but what about a Condor? Has anyone had one sized and built there recently? She wants a non-compact frame, but one that is not too long in the top-tube (the eternal question)
Any other suggestions to this problem are more than welcome (i.e. anyone giving away a short, 49cm non-compact frame ;-) )
