I found Old St. and made it back alive. Been eating since. Almost bonked again coming home - what was that hill(S) called?
Top notch effort those of you who made it out in that rain. Twas very good fun! Bit different to the normal club runs :)
I was so happy, I even washed my bike.. poor thing. :)
I think I'm cursed though.. just went out for more food and it went from no rain to pissing down.. again! :P
Hope the rest of you softies enjoyed your lie-ins! The eight of us expect showerings of praise.. and beer.. and driveline components..
Booya!

With your stats, that makes my day 105k. Not too shabby considering the crap we rode through.
32mph down that hill going after Roberto.. what rpm is that with a 44/17 I wonder? Almost ditched it at the end - don't try to skid going that fast peeps! :S

Some bad math in my head leads me to believe it's in the 150rpm to 160rpm range.
Did notice you wobble and jump around at the end, thought you were just showing off ;)

Yeah well done guys!

I can't believe I'm still eating and drinking. Didn't make the pub in the end - gf has baby nephew over we are taking care of him. Offered the little git a beer but he said something about 'only the finest single malt for me'..

Ride was wicked, seriously. I still can't believe we made it - about myself, i nearly went back to bed this morning after check out the weather!
Smaller group, less stops, riding faster, 3 punctures, 1 mini-accident, a very few pictures, shitty weather... but i am sure we're all ready to do it again! ;)
-
• #265
no no no, 4 punctures, I was the king of the puncture had 2, david had 1 and i think ben had 1 too...
nice photos ;)
-
• #266
Yeah, puncture at the end when we had to wait in the cage at the traffic lights whilst it was fixed.

Oh, and the reason I'm standing like a prat in the photos (me in pink cap) is that I was absolutely sodden. So I was trying to stand in such a way that my limbs wouldn't touch each other or my torso! Heh, fecking crap waterproof gear.
-
• #268
david, did ride with gears???
-
• #269
Ahhh, just had a really good sleep!
Slamm, I know you are getting a lot of requests for this, can I get the high-res version of that photo too please? ben.broomfield@gmail.com cheers.

Lots of gears. As many as I could carry.
I still don't have my new wheels, so I'm still single-speed. I wanted the extra brake, and with the Etape and Dunwich Dynamo coming up I want to get used to my road bike again (for distance anyway).
I bought along Bike Porn.

L-R: Hippy, photoben, Brett, velocity boy, slamm, mareeoh, Roberto & mdja(?)Roberto, noticed you snapping a few times. Where's ya pics at? :-)

Well, yeah, great ride - despite the rain that was a whole lot of fun. I particularly liked riding blind down the A13 (I had to abandon glasses) and our exploration of the darker side of Essex. I was going to clean my bike but I got home just in time to eat loads of pasta and go straight back out, didn't make it home till 3am so probably no bike cleaning today either.
Next time we should make it onto the pier, and stop at the Circus Tavern on the way past Thurrock (don't know if anyone else noticed it as we passed) for the Cage Fighting :)
-
• #274
Yeah, cage fighting is a definite! :D
I like mdja's custom foot-rest.. even if I'm not mad enough to detach my feet from pedals. You too photoben! :P

Thought I'd bikely the route... A couple of bits of guesswork at beginning (I was too wet to see where we went) and end (not sure where we took a right to the seafront). Bikely claims it's 43 miles, and you can see the 'fun' hill in the El. profile.

gutted i missed it, even if it was pissing down
