  • anti-social twats?

  • rkn anti-social twats?

That'll be the guys who will be arresting cyclists for riding their bikes at the next CM, then, won't it?

  • velocity boy Of course... taken literally it would mean any congregation of cyclists meeting and riding somewhere is illegal. Perhaps every single ride we organise should add to their pile of paperwork? So that's the London to Brighton, London to Southend, Highgate West Hill, Bike Polo, and the many near-spontaneous rides to Greenwich, etc.

Or just a queue for the chip-shop in Berwick Street.

This the section of the Public Order Act that will be used to criminalise CM

  • traffic lights at Oval station every morning 0830?

  • so for the ride to southampton could we get a police escort as far as the metropilitan police boundary on the route if there are more than 20 people meeting at seven dials?

  • Might go. Heading to Germany next day so wouldn't want to over-exert myself trying to keep up with the Mass. Anyone know how long it takes/best route to Harwich?

  • From what I recall, a procession is defined in the Public Order Act as any gathering of more than 3 people.

  • Theres lots of chatter on the cm email list about how its not actually banned, that its really grey legally and so it will all be nice and lovely.

    Might go with my g/f...

  • Elvis i will be interested to see how the next london one will go. i just don't see how this could be policed. will they just arrest those riders at the front?? a complete waste of police time.

i'm assuming the other ones around the country will eventually get embroiled in this type of red tape??

random arestes is what they did in denver... they also 'lost' my bike... and then they 'lost' my release papers. i got really tired of getting things lost when they put me on the wing with the violent ofenders when i thought i was going to be released!

dont british police usuly just cricle things and take peoples pictures

  • heh!

unfortunately they only do that to dangerous criminals.

    It'll kick off, I reckon.

    hot, muggy weather..tempers frayed..

someone (not necessarily a CM goer) will provoke some young copper who's had enough of it, he'll be told to move on, argument ensues, police use some force, others see this then start sticking up for the original pusher (who's probably gone home by now) cops get heavy handed, people get hurt..etc..etc.. News At Ten.

Sad that the ride will now be seen as an illegal protest, if more police get sent out tonight to arrest cyclists then that's appalling.

What is it with this fucking place? motoring is a fucking dismal experience, everything is done to get you out of your car, cost, purposely abysmal road networks, "Traffic calming measures", stupidly phased traffic lights etc.. yet when you want to ride there's this stupid bollocks from some sections of the media about "Cyclist debates" and bullshit like this from the Met. So the option is public transport is it? is it fuck, that's shit and costs an arm and a leg. What about those who don't want to be herded like sheep?

Just how would you like us to travel around our capital, Mr Bliar, Mr Brown, Mr fucking cunt?

  • why don't they arrest some of those car drivers who block the roads up every day hypocracy

i'll be there tonight we should try and get as many people out as possible to show they will " NEVER TAKE OUR FRRREEEEDDDOOOOMMMM " ( he screams as he rides up and down in front of the troops on his charge )

  • The last few CM’s have been very good natured, most of the rozzers are happy for the overtime, they have a mean age of ner ner ner nineteen and enjoy riding their bikes.

Some high ranking commander commented that today’s CM would not be more heavily policed and they have no intention of morphing into the NYPD overnight. *(It scored quite a lot of coverage on radio London, kind of like a advert).

As far as I am aware in the 13 years that CM has been going in London society has not come to a grinding halt or had the air sucked from it’s collective brain.
CM is a celebration of the cycle as a valid and viable form of transport as apposed to anything confrontational.

If a few cabbies get there knickers in a twist over a bit of gridlock caused by human powered vehicles once a month well that’s just an added bonus.

  • haven't been to a cm for ages but will be going tonight, if i can find where i stashed them i'll put a londonfgss spokecard on my ride so say hi (or else!).

  • I think i met you at polo (chequered van's - you were wearing?) - so i'll look at for you.

  • who's going from east london?
Salmon it was me that you saw yesterday in befnals backstreets

  • i saw you in befnals backstreets yesterday!

I'll be coming up from streatham tho 2nite.

  • shoulda shouted at me, do it next time ;)

  • lol i did and you said hi back :p

  • ha, i wasn't riding yesterday had a funeral to go to so i was driving a 4 wheeled power assisted bike (or car). did see the brick though and got my mum to shout at him out the window.

i'll be wearing the van's again- in fact i'll prob be wearing the same clothes too!

blue fixed with missmatched bartape and a black bag with two bananas on it, run come find me....

  • where does it start??? and who's going?

  • Ha yep I just thought I had been internet stalked at first and then I saw you driving along.

May be along later depends if I feel inspired enough.

  • so whos going then???

  • much better than last month lots and lots of people and the whole bunch stuck together left about 9.30 cycling slowly is very tiring

  • Pretty good crowd. Some bloke yelling about how long he had been stuck in his car "I pay my road tax" I think were his words. Lots of laughs.
