  • TheBrick I spoke to a few guys on a frame building fourm (I am planning a build eventually lotts to learn though) and the genral thought there is that double plate forks are not hard to make. Just wip something up in your favourate CAD program for the plates and take t down a machine shop to get a run done. Then build your fork as usual. By ofsetting the fork blade holes by 1 mm this also allows you to simply flip over the lower plate if you fancy a straight blade fork or keep the whole aligned for a traditional curved fork. Maybe a project for the future, a small run.

  • Ah this is a long term thing don't get too excited. Got to sort out my first build but with any luck by the end of the summer I should have built me a frame. Forks would be a distant thought but it is nice to know that it is possible to make them up. It's something to bear in mind though that frame builder should be able to make them.

  • im fasinated by the idea of building my ownh frame, but dont think i know nearly enough yet

  • I am getting there but still need to work out some stuff, I have worked out most of the fabrication (did a short welding course to get a "feel" for it) I need but there is quite alot to lean about geometory / general good design. I am lucky that my dad has a lots of tools including a gas welding setup otherwise the tool / workshop cost are pritty prohibative. Espechally in London. He is about two hour away but it's all good for a weekend.

  • yeah, i know how to weld, but im shit at it, and havne t done it in a year or so... good fun though melting metal and bonding it

  • I think Dave Yates runs residential frame building courses where you get to build your own bike
