  • Just saw this on FGG. Anyone else know anything more about them? Their site says they are knew and mainly seems to be mtb/bmx. In their catalogue they have that SS, no price though and not really high-spec.

  • looks nice and clean tho,

  • they make nice stuff

that bike looks a bit Steamroller'ish..

not a bad thing, if that's what you want..

I wonder what the weight is like

  • Hello it's Jim from Charge Bikes here. Just thought I'd let you know a bit more about the Plug. The price is £399.99 and in a medium frame (59cm C-T) the weight for the complete bike is 22.6lbs. Let us know if you'd like to know anything at all about our range.

  • wierd

  • Do they have a supplier in London?

  • Isn't 22.6 lbs a bit on the heavy side for a fixed? Or is it comparable to a langster/filmore etc.

  • just out of interest is it butted or plain gauge main tubes?

  • I think i read somewhere that its plain, there was a link to a spec sheet on one of the cycling forums - may have been cycling+

  • according to their website its plain gauge

  • good luck to charge with their 'street' bikes. it's more choice for the consumer wanting an off the peg fix instead of the big bike brands like spcl'd trek surly etc.

  • Hey Jim - why should I buy a charge bike as opposed to pista/langster etc? What marks your bikes out?

Genuinely interested as to how you see yourselves fitting into the market.

  • Nice bike. Do brakes come for the 399 price, is there any toe overlap with the fork and are the spokes double butted please?

  • Hello again, sorry I've not been on it but here are the answers to your questions.

Do they have a supplier in London? All Evans stores, Triton Cycles (barkingside) and Chamberlaines (camden)

Isn't 22.6 lbs a bit on the heavy side for a fixed? Or is it comparable to a langster/filmore etc? It is a plain gauge steel frame so it will be a bit heavier than the Langster (alloy) and the filmore (double butted) it's also £399.99 complete (cheaper than the filmore) and so has components geared towards durability rather than ultra light weight and to be honest I'm not sure what the weight of those other 2 bikes are to compare thems so they could well be relatively close anyway.

why should I buy a charge bike as opposed to pista/langster etc? What marks your bikes out? I can only say that what we think we've created is the best value bike around, it may not be the the absoloute lightest, but we think that we've got the best balance between price, spec, construction quality and weight. For what it's designed for we don't think you could have much more fun on a bike 3 times the price and we certainley don't think you'd have any less. Personally I think it looks nicer than the Langster particularly, clean frame and subtle colours, neat little spec details like the cable guides/seat/bartape all help make it (in our opinion) that little bit more stylish.

Do brakes come for the 399 price, is there any toe overlap with the fork and are the spokes double butted please? you get front and rear brakes, there is no toe overlap, the spokes are plain gauge stainless.

I'm happy to answer any other questions you might have, if I've missed anything let me know.

    Jim

  • Can we have one sent down to.. err.. 'review'? ;-)

  • hippy Can we have one sent down to.. err.. 'review'? ;-)

oh yes that would be nice. or 6 for the ultimate durability test- polo!

for a street fix aimed at the uk market i think the lack of fender mounting holes is an oversight, but others may not agree.

  • dear mavic
i really like those 5 spoke carbon wheels. i would like to test them out for my forum. if you could attach a uk team black carbon frame and all the trimmings to make them rideable i would very much appreciate.
    regards
    dicki

  • LOL

    56cm please.

  • I think it's a cool idea to do reviews of stuff....

  • I'd support it, providing you understood one person to review each item once, and that the vast majority of companies expect their stuff returned post-review. If people wanted to review stuff, it's cool with me. Perhaps we could even ask Brick Lane Cycles or someone to stock the stuff we love?

  • bagsie on the comittee !!!

  • Surely someone would have to prove their awesome reviewing skills before anyone would send you a free bike to ride for a while?

  • Write some reviews then ;)

I'll create a category for it now.

  • I like it.

    It is so so.

    I don't like.

    How is that?

  • Terrible. I don't even know what you reviewed.
