I've never been to Southend so I'm interested in paying a visit (if I haven't already agreed to do something else that day)
-

Sweet. I'm up for that. But don't expect much in Southend ;-)
Plus one day soon I'm going to be arranging a London to Colchester if anyone is up for that. 65sh miles, any bike accepted.

Southend comes up as 96k (60mi) in google maps, Colchester 120k (74mi).
I'd like to do both actually, seeing as I rarely venture outside London.Do you guys generally ride back or train back? I've not tried getting my bike on any UK trains yet - I'm betting it's not painless?

Oh, those distances were from my place out West, sorry for worrying anyone ;)

Just spoken to my mate and he's busy doing his final show for his art degree so the Colchester ride won't be till mid/late June. I'll keep you all posted.
Trains heading east are usually all bike friendly. I used to live in Col, aand never had a prob putting my bike on the train in the last four years.

Is there a limit to the number of bikes they'll let on the train? Just thinking about a bunch of us coming back by train..

A useful (and regularly updated) link for bike/train info:
http://www.atob.org.uk/Bike_Rail.html
You'll be fine off-peak - might have to divvy yourselves up in a number of carriages though.

Back in the day we'd have all been able to pile into the guards carriage with a couple of crates of beer and we'd be laughing...

This is what I love about gov transport policy trying to discourage the use of cars and get us on our bikes (which I asupport in towns but for gtting between places car works so much better then taking the train) but then make it hard to avoid.

I'll get out with you one day but I will be resting BH Monday as I am doing the Hailsham 600k Audax Sat/Sun :)

Goes off to google 'great trinagle'??
In the last bank holiday weekend was the London 2 Brighton organized by fixedgearlondon , was a good idea.
Hope they will do something in the next bank holiday, 28th may, but if they don`t do anything we could arrange a long distance ride.
And someone could give some ideas of where to go.
Distance about 40 - 60 miles woulb be fine!!
well, someone have any idea of where to go??
