I could have been the 3rd fakenger in the pic! -

-
• #164
no, you are a real courier, even if it's one day.
how do you manage one day a week?
that sounds too easy
-
• #165
oh sorry I didn't know you were couriering actually.
Apologies - you can wear your messenger bag with pride! -

i take my portfolio around on my bike, yesterday i delivered some prints on my bike. thus doing couriers out of job so should i be vilified by couriers?
sometimes i am my own courier.
i have an account with a courier firm (don't use it much) so maybe i am just a customer wannabe fakenger?i prefer to be somebody who just rides a bike (fixed) who happens to use a courier bag :-)

I prefer to be somebody who uses a fixed gear bike, happens to use a courier bag, somehow ended up wearing rolled up jeans or camo shorts, by pure coincidence carries his big Kryptonite chain around my waist, and in a fortuitous manner sometimes drinks beers at a pub called the Duke Of York.
Next step: put my spoke cards in my rear wheel, add patches on my bag, wear a Campagnolo hat, and tie up my chain key around my wrist...

i recently finished my first bike...what's the verdict?
I know the stem's funny, i want it to go deeper but i wouldn't have any of that, so i'm thinking of a saw off D.I.Y. job or just leave it? -
• #174
Nice bike, if the bars/stem are comfy like that then just leave it. I'd get some toeclips for the pedals

this is a cool bike stefi. so far, i think gear is a little high for town (or maybe my legs are all weak after a week of no riding), but it's really comfy, love the amsterdam handlebars.
About the DIY saw thing, i think that kind of stem sort of flares out towards the top, preventing you getting it on further. Sawing off the bottom isn't going to get the stem in any deeper, it might make it unsafe. What i did a few years back was get some really abrasive sandpaper to try and get it the same circumference all the way to the top. It worked, but it took a lot of sanding. An electrical sander will probs do it in a couple o' mins.
Hi all, I'm new here and am currently living in Melbourne. Moving back to the smoke in June.
