  • Sintema make one. (Which I am using, and it works fine.)

[edit: Ah. A straight fork. Umm. dunno. ]

  • hi i'm new to the forum.....
    hope this helps

    postage to uk is 39usd

  • I have profile design carbon forks and they are pretty good. rake is good and toe-verlap isn't an issue even on a cannondale

  • or this, great fork
    fork

  • Cheers for the links, will check them out.

  • Nice. That's more my kinda price range ;)

Anyway want to explain to me what the difference is between 1", 1 1/8 integrated, not integrated, threadless? I've never understood that...

  • 1", 1 1/8 is the diameter of the steerer
integrated is for frames designed to use integrated headset
threadless means there's no thread on the steerer, to use with a-head stem (not quill type)

  • Cheers Brian, so what is an integrated headset as opposed to a non-integrated?

  • more aero dynamic, lower steck heigh maybe.......

  • Cool, well i found the Alpina here for 72 inc. p&p so will prob go for that, unless anyone says anything bad about them ;)

  • Hi all,

Been lurking on this forum for a while but now i need some advice on forks - had a search but couldnt find too many threads with info.

I've just purchased a new frame from the bay to replace the old Raleigh frame on my conversion - the thing handles like a wet piece of soap. The new frame is a Schwinn Madison (yes, I got dazzled by the decals) and the listing indicated that it was frame and fork. I think I paid a little over the odds for it relative the the RRP, but was reasonably comfortable with the deal. Turns out that contrary to the listing there is no fork included. Contacted the seller who directed me to Condor for a replacement and we'd negotiate a price reduction (or full refund). Not ideal as I like the original cro-mo fork, but im keen to come to a resolution rather than send it back.

Anyhoo, Condor stock the 1 1/8 carbon fork from the Lavoro for £80. I've seen some other bits and pieces around for a bit less but i reckon i can negotiate the reduction relative to the fork so im more inclined to go for a better quality item without going overboard - I mean its an entry level frame... Needs to be a straight fork or minimal rake. Also, it must look like a donkeys cock.

Any advice would be greatly appreciate. In addition, please stand me up when you see me lying on my side at traffic lights.

Sorry for bumping the old thread.

    Cheers all
    Balk

  • Hi balk, does the seller insist you go through condor for your forks? I reckon you could get some better forks (crmo) if you were to shop around.

  • colnago!

  • salvage some from an old raleigh lizard, they'll do the job.

  • Thanks for the replies guys...

@asm - no, the seller doesnt insist I go through Condor. Curious to know why you think the cromo route is a better option than some schtonkin carbon numbers.

@briankwan - yep... would happily do this, but I've not seen any with a 1 1/8 steerer in my travels. Does such an animal exist?

    @50/14 - Jesus christ!

    Balki.

  • oh, and Slaytanic if I had a lizard kicking around do you think I'd be building another bike???

  • yup.. i got a 1inch one for sale...

  • Hi Tilover... thanks but I actually need a 1 1/8 for the Madison frame. I know the thread title isnt representative, but I had to hijack it as Im too new and therefore cant start a dedicated thread.

  • aww. nevermind balki, i should have read it back

  • Back to the orginal thread : I'm looking for a straight 1" carbon fork too

    Hello,

I'm new to this forum so I couldn't start a nexw thread.

I'm actively looking for a straight 1" carbon fork with a >250mm steerer. Do you know any web shop that have that in stock and can ship to France, or by any chance does someone have one to sell ?

  • I forgot to add - threadless fork
