Langster wheels, can't think why they'd be a problem.
Padded shorts a very good idea.
Bring fluids and food for the trip (especially if you're not used to distance - the trick is to hydrate often in small bits).
Make sure you bring basic puncture repair, tools, and stuff. Spare tubes plus air canisters at minimum.
We're doing a practice thing on Wednesday night of 40 miles just to make sure people are comfortable with the kind of distance involved. Check the other thread and we'll work out the meeting place and time to suit everyone. It will be a evening/night training thing.
