It's fixed, it's a long way, I doubt anyone will be going fast, and with the weather as it is frequent stops for water and food would be advisable.
I don't think they're racing, more just going out for a long day. Bear in mind that quite a few of us have done 40 miles in a day just going to a pub on the other side of London and back (and getting very tipsy whilst there).
It's also a bank holiday weekend, so you have a day to recover.
