The Flying Scotsman

  • The Flying Scotsman is a true story based on the inspirational and remarkable Scottish cyclist, Graeme Obree. In 1993, this unemployed amateur broke the world one-hour record on a bike of his own revolutionary design, which he constructed out of scrap metal and parts of a washing machine. Shortly after Graeme broke the record, he lost his title when another cyclist beat his time. This only served to motivate Graeme to break the record again, while also battling mental illness.

    YT - Trailer

IMDB says first UK showing is mid-August at Edinburgh Film Festival :( But its out elsewhere first so i guess it will be available in 'naughty places'.

  • Can't wait to see this - am about half way through the book at the mo and it's a great read

it 'was' shown at the Edinburgh film festival in august last year - so who knows when it will be in cinemas down here. I've been keeping a quiet eye on the prince charles hoping it will appear there

  • Sounds like it was a good book the trailer looks awlful!

  • This this is on at the Dalston Rio on Sat.

  • When I read the title I thought you were referring to the 'pound in a pint pot' boozer on the Calendonian Road. ;-)

  • Apparently, for the sequences were you have a following view of JLM on the track, Obree was the cameraman - being the only person in the room that could keep a camera-loaded bike going in a straight line.

  • opens Thursday I think...not sure which London cinemas are showing it. there seems to be at least three "official" websites.

  • Yeah, it's had a lot of TV adverstising, opens to (national?) release on Thursday.

I am really looking forward to it.

  • Caught this on DVD this evening...well worth a view for those who haven't already seen it

  • +1 great movie

  • I have to admit that having read the book, which I really liked, I'm not too bothered about the movie.

  • Damn. Thought this thread would be about the Kings Cross pub with topless barmaids.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00z66n4 (1400 if you are listening later)

  • This is on iPlayer until the 4th of April.

  • Friday night hour of power FTW! Fantastic evening for it, and now it's closed the outer circle is ALL MINE. Only problem is I'm losing count, think this one is the sixth. Don't ever do this sober, people will think you're mental.
