Frame valuation?

I'm thinking about selling my old frame. But I don't even know what to ask for it.

Good Points:
56cm 1973 Raleigh Professional Track Frame
Handbuilt by Carlton Cycles
Campagnolo Track Ends - beefy
Reynolds 531 throughout
Nervex Pro Lugs
Comes with Campy Pista crank, bb and Shimano Headset
Raced at both Hellyer Park (California) and Herne Hill

Bad points:
Frame was crashed - professionally repaired by Bernie Mikkelsen (v. respected California Framebuilder).
Original fork is missing - has replacement 531 fork built by Barry Witcomb.
Frame is powdercoated - finish is faded and badly scratched.
Chrome on rear is in poor condition - scratched and pitting in places.
Crank is 151 bcd and left pedal threads are slightly damaged (never caused problems).
Headset and BB are a little ropey.

On the one hand its a really nice frame but everything about it needs some tlc.

I think you'll get much more if you sell the crank and BB separately. I've seen the 151 campy cranks go for more than £100 on the Bay. The BB (if it's campy pista) should get about £20. Make them visible on ebay USA and you'll cash in. I reckon the frame should get around £120 - 150, again you'll probably get more if you're willing to ship to the US.

I was going to say £150 for the frame too, on a good day. On a bad day you might be pushed to get £100 (which would piss me off seriously if I were the seller).

The problem I find with selling items is that you inevitably feel that you have paid more, and put more love into the item, than you will get back.

I always think the TLC I show my bike stuff should make the item retain it's value well, but the honest truth is that every time I sell something I become a bitter fucker who thinks I've been ripped off and who vows to next time set the reserve price much higher.

This is why I like the idea of a freecycle thing, if I'm going to be bitter about being ripped off, I'd rather give my stuff to those who will appreciate it, use it and love it. That doesn't work when the item is valued at over £100 as then I'd be stupid to give it away, but for accessories and components, it's not the trouble of selling it that puts me off selling it, it's the bitterness I feel afterwards when I think I've been had for letting go of something for so little when I believe it's worth more.

I get too emotionally attached to bike stuff. It turns out that makes me a sucker when I'm selling it.

Cheers for the input. Really want to pass this on to a beginner racer either at Herne Hill or the ghetto fabulous Preston Park (makes Herne Hill look like Manchester) so its nice to know what a fair price is.

Would really prefer not to put it on Ebay just because it deserves to be ridden on a 'drome and not walked to a coffee shop in the Misson/Hoxton etc.
