They don’t allow credit from what I was told today. Flexible direct debit based on smart meter readings. Guess there’s the reading accuracy issue to contend with…

Yep, Tomato only do variable direct debit, so you only pay for what you've used.

Smart meter usage data is freely available and verifiable, I use a 3rd party app called 'Bright' to keep track of usage, and it matches perfectly with the Tomato website and billing.
