  • Bark & Jack 22mm NATO, worn twice, £12 posted anyone? Was £28+£4 post and bought new at at end of October. Full disclosure - I didn't personally find it that comfortable - hence sale/lack of use.
Didn't and won't come with spring bars though.

  • Really incredible..

  • You (and most of us) need to read about English law - it's the branch called TORT. Putting an item in a window with a price is just an "invitation to trade" from the seller, it's NOT a binding offer, which is a shame :-( Surprisingly, it's you that makes the "offer" when you go in and quote the price, they can refuse your offer.

  • Ah interesting. Tried to find the German equivalent but didn’t succeed.

  • IIRC this is the same thing as when something is priced incorrectly in a shop, eg displayed on a supermarket shelf at a lower price than it should be. Contrary to popular belief the retailer is not obliged to sell it to you at that price, they can simply withdraw it from sale. (Though, for the sake of customer relations, many shops would let you have it at that price and then go and correct their mistake.)

I’m showing my age a bit, nowadays they’ll just scan the item at the checkout and tell you that’s not the price.

  • So much in love. Next on the list a Superior

(was going to write “Happy Monday”, but our cat is ill. So it isn’t…)

I have a white rubber strap in the post after being inspired by a photo I saw online.

  • Lovely. What strap do you have it on?

  • Ackshually this is contractual law, not tort (tort is civil harm/wrongs - like negligence etc). Leading case is one of the few case names I can ever actually remember, mainly because of the in-depth debates about whether putting something in a shopping basket is acceptance of an offer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pharmaceutical_Society_of_GB_v_Boots_Cash_Chemists_(Southern)_Ltd#:~:text=The%20Court%20held%20that%20the,of%20an%20invitation%20to%20treat.

That was in the good ol' days of metal shopping baskets, rather than virtual ones.

  • Yep - display prices are generally an "invitation to treat" (possibly the most jaunty of all contractual legal terms - makes me think you're trying to buy an eclair).

  • Maybe the bouncers are just there to insure the sales assistant doesn't crack on the umpteenth time of being asked if the watch can be purchased

  • It's from Condor Straps. A lovely one

Badalassi Carlo Wax Leather Watch Strap

  • That's brilliant! I think a billion years is optimistic though. It wouldn't last 2 mins if any of my kids got near it.

  • Saw a guy losing his shit at the bouncers at WoS in Canary Wharf, who either wouldn't let him in, or escorted him out of the store, due to non-ability to buy a Rolex.
He was shouting about wanting to buy a Rolex and he "has 5 already" and kept calling the guy a racist.
Was strange as all parties were the same ethnicity (including the SA in the shop)
I imagine he wanted to buy a display only Sub, got told they are not available, etc. and he lost his shit.

This was peak scarcity, back in 2020-21 ish.

  • I'm not in the market for a new watch right now, but next time I have an occasion to mark I reckon the choice stands between a classic Sinn model or one of them Damasko chronographs I see around the internets. How does Lufguss feel about Damasko? @Regal ?

  • I prefer Sinn personally, but mostly because I find their design a bit more sophisticated. Nothing wrong with Damasko at all, they're quite similar spec-wise and I think even used to supply cases to Sinn.

  • I had the black dialled version a few years back though not the Si pictured and absolutely loved it. 40mm with 20mm lugs and looked great on any strap I fitted.

The matt finished case was almost impossible to mark and it had a nice heft to it. It definitely wasn’t a slim watch but that never really bothered me.

What did for some reason was 100m water resistance and poor lume. Biggest issue for me was the need to buy the matching bracelet but the absolute disgust at the price of it.

Anyway, like most of my favourite bikes over the years I sold it and almost immediately regretted it.

  • Couldn't resist a new year's sale... This got delivered this morning. Pretty fun and great finishing considering the price. Even lucked out with the right end links so it fits very well. Will be going on a strap later I think .
