  • @Tenderloin AliExpress roller review:

Very well made, solid construction. Abrasives seem good quality. I’ve used whetstones & a Lanskey type thing and this is the best of both worlds I think. Consistent angle while still giving enough feedback to concentrate or certain bits of the blade. Instant “setup” means it’s not a ballache to swap sides of the blade and slowly eliminate the burr.

Add a leather strop and you’re golden.

Even managed to do the wee knives with a bit of fiddling. The deep bladed nakiri needed the strop under the roller to raise it a little, with various chopping boards you could shim for any blade height.

Lots of cheap rolling sharpeners are shit but this one seems to be the sweet spot.

  • The pics in this post remind me of Airbnb listing where you've got to scroll through endless pictures of soap trays, pictures and plants to see the useful ones.

  • Was literally coming in here to see if I could find anyone reviewing an AE roller sharpener!

Had read reviews saying they were shit, but I got the feeling they were shilling for more expensive ones.
