  • It sounds like you have a blockage further down. You aren't likely to reach anything from the toilet bowl. I'd start by lifting the cover of the sewer outside and checking for signs of a blockage. I'd then rod one way or the other from there.

  • We have an outside toilet which is upstream of the manhole, and doesn't backup at all or create gurgling inside, so I'm assuming the blockage is between the inside toilets and the outside one.

    There's an inspection hatch on the bottom of the soil and vent pipe, but I'm not going to be taking that off - I think that's one for the professionals

  • I have managed to inspect my drains and rod them. The rods and the handles to lift the cover will cost much less than a plumber.

    Even if you fuck up like I did earlier this year when I dropped the cover from the septic tank into the tank itself and also then have to buy a new cover!
