  • SO sad I didn’t get a photo of @andyp parking it on the first lap of Canada Heights today.
I did however, resist the “can’t park there mate” which I am very proud of. It was low hanging fruit.

  • Never meet your heroes

  • Fucked it right up, didn't I?

  • There was someone else on a single speed yesterday, really not the best course for SSCX imo but…
    Anyone on here?

  • Two people on singlespeed; Jo Burt and John Lemonius. They almost always race on singlespeed. I should really get mine back together.

I don’t think either are on here.

  • Good to see a lot of forumites at Herne Hill today for the Madison Cross - @leggy_blonde @Chalfie @GrantMontie and @owlz (can't do his username).

I hope you've all warmed up after that?

Oh, I also got a "do a skid" shout as I started my final lap, possibly @CasualLime ?

  • I'm laying in bed sweating my tits off. I think my body is having an allergic reaction to being so violently cold @andyp

  • We are all able to understand Eli better.

  • Apparently, these days i find 0.5 of a race pretty hard 😆

    Can I blame the weather?

  • Sounds like something I would say… But I was in Diegem

  • That was me, trying to get my jaw to work.

Not sure I've warmed up yet, I think that reminded me why I've only done it once before....

  • That's the coldest one I've done, and I usually ride it every year.

I was lucky, as I completely failed to bring anything to wear afterwards with me, but managed to make do with what I had. Shivered most of the way home and it took ages for my feet to warm up, even after a shower.

  • The last time I was even approaching that state was the rainy catford HC. I managed to throw a cup of tea down myself while waiting to race I was shaking that badly.
Yesterday I just walked straight into the shower with my kit on. I rinsed my kit for at least 15 minutes before putting it in the wash. It needed two full washes before it was clean.

My hands, arthritis eh, are a bit sore in the knuckles today as well.

    10/10 would repeat the experience.

  • At least you didn't whack your cock on the stem as you launched yourself over the bars and landed face-first in a muddy puddle, like some other idiot. Witnessed by @leggy_blonde other half too.

  • apparently the somersault was a solid 6.0

  • pics or...

  • I hope that person is doing ok. That sounds like an awful injury.

I was riding next to Andy and this is what I felt like.

  • Hats off to everyone who rode yesterday ….. that was the most miserable day I’ve ever had down the track - and I was only watching !

  • I saw an amazing GoPro video of the start of the Diegem from someone mid pack argy bargying their way through the first few corners on Instagram. I can no longer find it.
Don't suppose anyone else has seen it and has the link?

Edit: the thing that made this video stand out was the guy (and a guy in front) lifted his bike over his head to get around the first corner or something. It was pretty crazy.

  • Amazing!!! Thanks so much! It's been tip of the tongue all day!

  • One for the singlespeed and tracklocross aficionados.
