  • It's interesting that both the Cybertruck above and the Ford 150 EV that hit the people in New Orleans were hired on Turo which is peer to peer rental platform in the US.

    The vehicles were therefore owned by private individuals who rented them to the perpetrators directly via that platform. Must have been a rude awakening when the swat teams hit.

    It's also in the UK, I had a brief look at it on the basis that my car is unused the vast majority of the time and it would possibly make sense to rent it out.

    The site is incredibly opaque about what you earn and how it works and promotes buying cars so you can rent them out ...

  • No chance I'd rent my car out to people I don't know. Having seen the state of 6-18 month old rental cars I think the value of your car will just plummet
