  • I’ll ask in here as it has the best response:
Zip repair : one on a running jacket one on a jacket from years ago

    Where / who / how

Running jacket the zip is coming apart
Other jacket has lost zip puller (so a paperclip or similarwpuld work but I’d like it fixed properly)

  • First off i would get yourself up to date with current zips. Then ask a repairer for what you want . Swapping out is pretty straight forward for any shop/hobbyist.

  • Has ziptech changed?

  • Substantially loads more than just ykk . Vislon plastic waterproof is one of the go to but i will leave it to chops or the sow clan.

  • Hey all,

My Albion base layer has finally died. Any one has any recommendations for something similar ideally merino. Cheers!

  • I guess Albion are out of stock. I've had a few (not had Albion) I really like my Salewa zebru ones, their a poly blend. Their not thick material but that suits.

  • I rate the DHB merino sleeveless base layers, just as good as the Rapha I have.
If the merino winter cap from Van Rysel (Decathlon) is anything to go by they have really stepped up their game and might be worth a look.

  • DHB merino sleeveless base layers

If anyone's looking, I've got two basically unused in black (medium or large, need to check), I'm happy to move on for cheap.

(Not to detract from Albion sales, I'll be getting a new waterproof soon from them!)

  • All the praise for the Burner is making me think I should finally get one. Any views in whether to get standard or large size? I'm 6'4" and usually take a medium size jersey if that makes any difference

  • Get the large and you can always fold a edge up . They are amazing bits if kit.

  • Good call. Will get my order in!

  • @Chopsicle

You'll pick this up when you recover from your fixed f500.
Can I just thank you from the bottom of my cold heart..

Yesterday in London the weather was crisp and cold, between 2 and 4 degrees C, with an added windchill. I was out riding for 4 hours. And for the first time in my life I was actually warm on a ride.

    I run cold.

At the risk of turning into a fast show sketch; I was wearing
    Base
    burner (yours!)
    jersey
    Perfetto
    Zoa jacket (yours!)

I think it is what you now call the 'ultralight insulated'

After a recommendation for winter gloves, (Kinco 350 by the way), I was toasty throughout. At no point did I feel too hot.

I appreciate many here run warmer than me and 3 layers are enough, but trust me this works for me.
