  • Yeah that would be good.

Just a pipe dream. But I would love a sauna.

  • Haha! No welder from Santa :( I’ll be getting my own. I’ve got a half decent mig and the garage in new, so it’ll be grand. Just need to clear some space

  • Anyone know where I can get a copy of Windows 7 (to install on a vm) to run some old software?

  • Thanks! I'll give it a go :)

  • I’ve utfsf, and would like the new-Christmas-kit hivemind’s thoughts on long distance, cold weather gloves.

Bought a pair of Galibier Ardennes winter gloves and am disappointed with their thermal protection. Using them without a liner and they are very much like a pair of Castellis I had a few years ago: good for short rides in London at its coldest, but not up for longer rides or under freezing. The Barrier Deep Winter ones are highly reviewed but out of stock for days/weeks. Are they really worth it? Else, what <£50 gloves will keep my digits from going numb after a few dozen km on a hard day in January?

  • Are you sorted?

  • Hi, Just loading now....bit of an issues, just because the USB drive is big enough, there has to be enough space on the HDD......

  • I got some Endura Freezing point lobster gloves, they seem ok, but not been below zero yet.
If it's really cold I wear a pair of thin merino liners under the gloves, and have a spare pair of gloves stashed inside my jumper (so they're getting warmed by my body), and change gloves ideally before my fingers go numb.

  • Where's good for picture frames? Not after anything super fancy but nicer than the basic Ikea ones, with glass rather than perspex. I'm after an A1 frame with a mount for an A2 print if that makes a difference. Would prefer plain black.

  • I’ve been happy with frames.co.uk, they do Perspex or glass and custom sizes and mounts if required. Nice simple black aluminium is what I’ve tended to go for.

  • @sohi Yes, works a treat, thank you!

  • yes, working fine

  • I have the Deep Winter gloves and do not find them that warm. They are decent but not brilliant. I suspect if you suffer from cold hands I doubt if they would be good enough.

  • I mistakenly ordered something to be delivered to my work address with DHL on Christmas Eve. I’ve been away and won’t be back until next week. It’s saying if I don’t collect it from the lockers it got delivered to by tomorrow it’ll be returned to the company. That’s fine by me, if I get a refund. Will that be the case or am I about to launch into some admin hell where they try to send it out again?

  • Thanks @jontea and @tertius. The search continues then. Pearl Izumi lobsters get good reviews, but £80 are stretching the budget if there’s minimal improvement over wearing wool liners under mid range outers.

  • am I about to launch into some admin hell where they try to send it out again?

To avoid that, you should probably tell them you no longer want it. They may want to charge you for the return shipping because you're rejecting it for reasons which are not their fault.

  • I have some Sealskinz lobsters which are great. I have Raynaud's so my hands get really cold really easily. The lobsters keep them nice and toasty, especially if I remember to pop them on a radiator for a bit before I head out.

The drawbacks are that they're not good in the wet. Once they get soaked through they're useless. They also really affect dexterity and put your hands in a weird position if you using drops and hoods. They're fine with flat bars/risers though.

The other drawback is that they're not cheap! They've definitely been worth it for me though. There were days when I'd just get the train to work if it was freezing because I knew my hands would suffer but that's not the case anymore.

  • If by “them” you mean the company I already did that. No reply though. Or do you mean DHL?

  • What SD card do I want for a GoPro Hero 10? Purpose is to record my kids progression from noon to rampage winners.

  • If by “them” you mean the company

    Yes.

  • I have some Carnac lobsters in the classifieds (for nothing) if you want to give them a try. They were too small for me.

  • Cheers but Barnet is a bit far afield from me currently. Appreciate it though.

  • Tend to stick with SanDisk extreme for my cameras and trust this site which says all OK for GoPro ..
