  • I'd pass on it if it was me

  • Cheers ladies and gents. Have offered to meet in a bank or outside their local police station but with an understanding if they're not comfortable, otherwise will leave it

  • Interested to know what their response was/is to, if you have issues with the steam deck, how they would reimburse you. Everything they don’t want to do means you have no way of getting your cash back. So how do they ease your mind in that position?

  • Of all games, I decided to restart Sekiro, after a 5 year lapse? Forgot how much I love this game, and hate From Software.

  • Hey video game knowledgeable people! (The only game I ever played - a lot, and enthusiastically - is Tetris, on the first Game Boy, so I've an extremely limited expertise)
Kids got a Switch for Xmas, it will be shared between 2 turbulent boys.
Any recommendations for a protective cover, that is dockable, has screen protection (unless this should be a separate peelable thing) and helps them keeping the thing as long as I've kept my Game Boy (I dug it out and played Tetris on Xmas day! 😃 )
    Thank you all in advance!

  • Have just downloaded it for the first time!

  • I'm markedly better this time round and haven't struggled (aka died twice) nowhere near as much!

  • I got a switch for Christmas.
What games do I need apart from Mario kart?

  • The 2 main Zelda games are worth a punt (Breath of the Wild + Tears of the Kingdom).

Stardew Valley is an excellent combo of relaxing farm sim that will have you maximising the productivity of every action of your character's day.

  • As above, the 2 Zelda games (Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom) although Links Awakening is also a good Zelda game. Red Dead Redemption is a good port.

Super Mario Odyssey is a must.

  • And Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Wonder is a lot of fun too.

  • Can you give them two controllers and keep the console tucked away somewhere? That way you'll just be replacing the gamepads if they're a little too turbulent during gameplay. I haven't seen a protective cover before but there may be one out there.

  • Thanks! I think they may want to keep carry it around. They've only tried it on the TV once in the last few days... Will see if it could become the go-to solution though, good idea!

  • I got a game called Kill Knight and it's so hard I am struggling with the tutorial.

Free on Epic today - might give the tutorial a whirl

  • Bomb Rush Cyberfunk currently 50% off on Switch, anyone played it (ideally on Switch for performance feedback). Tempted to get it, but really don't spend that much time playing games these days. Absolutely loved the JSR games though, so very tempted

  • Anyone got an Asus Rog Ally?
Facebook steam deck lady unsurprisingly went quiet. Thinking I'll just buy new. The 2023 Rog ally is currently a bit cheaper than the steam deck oled. Better performance but a bit less battery life. I'm wondering whether to go for one over the other

  • So I just need to wait five years to get gud?

  • Exactly!

My tip would be don't rush into boss fights - take a break if it's tough, and pay attention to dialogue and what items/weapons can do. It'll often give you a clue as to what tactics would work.

Stay aggressive too, being overly defensive in this game just doesn't work.

  • Or just use a guide and don't rely on obscure text on items to tell you how to beat a boss

  • I watch a lot of this mans videos and play throughs and he adores sekiro, so this and any of his other sekiro videos should be essential viewing (depending on how spoiler heavy you want to go), if you want to git gud!

    Edit: forgot to include link

  • Steam Deck support is massive. Not sure how big the Rog scene is.

  • @dsalmon Cowboy's stuff is excellent but 100% guide is spoiler-heavy content - I'm using it now to see what I missed out on.

When Sekiro first came out, I went in blind and am glad I did. It led to some serious wtf moments of surprise, lolz, and despair (anyone who's gotten far probably knows exactly what moments I'm referring to!) but way too many deaths for a FromSoftware game. I used some spoiler-free guides to help me get the prerequisites for the best endings too, but forgot how to play the game after a short trip abroad.

My current playthrough is going well considering how much bloody dragonrot I spread to the universe last time. Only one main, obligatory boss gave me a bit of trouble and one mini-boss gave me hell, again. I knew they would.

Lol @Sumo isn't wrong. Text can be cryptic just like any souls game. I guess I have too strong a familiarity that the shizzle actually makes sense.

  • Cool. I don’t really know what I’m doing yet and haven’t mastered the fighting style - lots of dying very early in the game

  • There's 1 big monster near the beginning that I got stuck in for ages. He's on a chain that breaks when you get near. Not even a boss but was an absolute skill check for me. The fighting is very parry focussed but also sometimes the best defense is offence, it's possible to be too passive waiting for a party opportunity
