I love Firefly and I’ve just started reading the recentish books which is nice new having stories in the universe.

The discord I’m in for a space western themed ttrpg also have people recommending Killjoys and Starhunter frequently but I’ve not got round to watching them yet.

lonesome dove is quite a good western series. settlers going into the wild west encountering indians, bandits and ne'er do wells galore. decent story line.

Space, the final frontier. So maybe western in space.

Star Wars, A New Hope in particular, to be a western
It's more pilgrimage/quest with some Western trappings. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journey_to_the_West, Wizard of Oz

Reuse of Western locations, notably Vasquez Rocks is a factor:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_productions_using_the_Vasquez_Rocks_as_a_filming_location
Also seen in recent Westworld.
What we think of as classic 'Western' landscape is actually a bit of desert with rocks in, just inside a 30 miles-from-Hollywood union rule - which isn't much like Montana/Dakota/Idaho/Wyoming.

When I was told about Vasquez rocks, I was amazed how often it appeared then remember that the frog sound used in movies is just the ribbit sound frogs make is just from an area of southern California

Jackal (Sky)
Worth a watch, very well produced, definite shades of Bond play.
I think the first 5 eps are better than the last 5 though.Lonesome Dove (appears all eps are on youtube) was referenced above for the Western fan. I have read the book and remember watching it a long time ago; Robert Duvall at his best.

While on Whedon and Nathan Fillion, I also have a soft spot for Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog
I think made for pretty much nothing during the writers strike

Thoroughly enjoying Ted Lasso.
Light and heartwarming.

Just got through season 1, but it didn't really grab me. I enjoyed the cultural aspects, but didn't find the plot very compelling. I think it would have been much better as a movie.
Did you ever watch Dark when you had Netflix? I found that very compelling.

This is the most powerful thing on TV right now. Starts at 19 secs. I could watch it on repeat for 48 hrs straight. At least.

Strike on BBC. I really enjoyed the first 2/3 books but they’ve become so needlessly layered and complicated. The whole cartoon scenario is just shit.
I also wish she’d just let them just be colleagues rather than this dance around the do they or don’t they fancy each other.
But I’ll still read/watch them even though the BBC butcher what could easily be a 6 parter into 4.
Rant over

She's got the power. And she used to be in the UK synchronised swim team. I predict great things.

Taylor Sheridan - have they done anything good? Somehow I find myself at the end of season 2 of Lioness. Utter drivel, not believable, don’t care at all for any of the characters, and real drama is down to somber strings. Clearly huge budget but absolute bullshit.
Mayor of Kingstown was similarly shit.

My auntie and uncle had used this on Christmas Day for years.
I’ve never quite understood it, but that’s the world we live in
It’s brilliant. Watched it just a couple of months back for the first time and while it’s sort-of dated in a way, it doesn’t take itself too seriously, which makes it quite refreshing when compared to modern sci-fi.
I’m still sad it was cancelled after 1 season 🙁
