LEL 2025 / London - Edinburgh - London Audax

Finished quite a few 1200+ brevets. Start time is important when deciding on your strategy. It can be useful to be ahead or behind the ‘bulge’ of riders that can swamp the available sleeping accommodation. I tend to have issues riding between 2am and 4am, so I usually plan on sleeping during that period and preferably also sleeping before and after. Some folk ride straight through the first night to get a long way through the route by the end of the second day and then cruise short days to the finish. The standard PBP advice is race out and tour back. Building a safety margin on the first couple of days can be very useful in the last couple of days.

Hey peeps looks like entries open in the next week or so. Anyone all the way in? Would love to team up with one or two people, even if just agreeing to roll out together and having a back up number or two for safety on the road it would be much appreciated. My DMs are open...

Fixed?

Yeah ill be fixed so not prob v fast but will try and be efficient as possible at stops to allow for the 'not v fast'

I have already booked time off work in August and I should get a guaranteed place, so looks like I’m in. More than likely fixed.

The route has been released and Andy Berne had a lot to do with it. I rode quite a few of his events last year and they were excellent.

The route has been released. The option of a central London start is possible again. I did it fixed last time but have my name down to volunteer this time, it would be nice to say hello to some forum dwellers as you speed through the check points.

Planning to enter again

I think the start is from Guildhall again if you choose the central London option. It was very relaxed and nice to start in London "proper". I think last time it only added 20km or so but guaranteed an early start.

This. I always find earlier starts easier than late finishes. Shops won’t be open for first couple of hours so possibility to faff doesn’t exist. By lunch time you’ll have ticked off a decent chunk making the afternoon feel like free miles 🤣

Probably going to sign up for my fourth LEL, possibly riding something a little less mainstream than previously. My partner is looking slightly less likely to enter her fifth LEL as she is looking towards riding a recumbent a bit quicker instead.

If I get an automatic place I shall hopefully be there.
