  • That is really helpful, thanks guys.

  • Revelate Spinelock straps - anyone replaced them? One of them broke on the weekend.

Seems like a pretty shit design, to be honest. All that strap closure force through some kind of bonded hypalon strap loop. The bonded section is only about 1cm x 0.5cm.

If I can't source some kind of replacement, I wonder if I could make a longer strap that goes right around plastic bash plate under the bag and clips onto both sides, but is still tensionable. I'd need to have a closer look and probably take my idea to someone with a proper sewing setup.

  • Is this new?

At a glance, is this the tailfin alternative trunk bag you've been looking for @snoops

    Waterproof, rolltop and lightweight.

  • That’s been out at least a year. It looks a bit wobbly and too heavy for me. Jay Petervay’s on previous page is closest but I’ve seen a few pics of unreleased products that will also be in that arena.

  • Will keep an eye out!

  • Hi Hip,
We have since changed the way this strap attaches, and they now have a bar-tack added. To fix your bag I would suggest taking it to get folded over, and bar-tacked, a cobbler would be a good choice since they tend to have post-mount machines. I have included photos of the updated design. You will notice there are bar-tacks on the other three joints as well, which you might consider adding while you're at it.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
    Cheers,
    Bike Bag Recovery Team

So, reckon a local cobblers could do this or one of the forum's bag makers perhaps?

  • Or a dry cleaners that also do repairs? Have always found them decent for small sewing jobs

  • Good idea too. I'll have a look around what's local.

  • Any clothing repair place could do a decent job probably, but a cobbler will have thicker threads + heavier needles.
