  • Had a Jolene mincer today, superb pastry and very good filling 8.5/10
Have Quince another go too, previous one must’ve been a bad one as this was superb best filling I’ve had and a lovely malty pastry 9/10

  • still saying sainsbury’s minis are the best I’ve had. buttery, good proportions, and don’t outstay their welcome.

  • Greggs. Box implies vegan which is presumably why it's so pale but maybe it was underbaked. Pasty was alright, mince was a bit sharp when cold but better when warmed up. Fairly good overall and <40p each so can't really complain

  • Made by the cook at Rode Hall, mince pie flapjack, it's bloody lovely.

  • The holloway model bakery mince pies are truly wonderful

  • That does look good. Think I will be popping over to Leamington to sample one.

  • Anyone found a good gluten-free mince pie? Doesn't exist, right?

  • Was given a pack of Fortnum “Christmas Almond Mince Pies”. Horrendous. Really crunchy frange layer that mostly tastes of almond essence, far too sweet, still haven’t tasted any mincemeat.

  • Oof. That looks like a brick. Think F&M is just a brand at this point - someone brought some of their mince pies to the office a few years ago and even then they were bottom of the league and about £15 a box

  • Have stocked up on the Chocolatine ones. Unrivalled IMO. Also partial to having a bit of blue cheese with them - the pie kind of acts as a chutney and a biscuit all in one.

  • Pastry perhaps a bit thick but almost frangipane-like. Maybe it has almonds in it? Mincemeat is a good mix of savoury and sweetness, almost nutty. Solid performer.

  • Outrageous profiteering at Tebay Services on the M6. Did not buy, although I did like the look of them.

  • That’s got to be a new high (low?). Outrageous as even the bougie London ones are at most what, £3.00?
These things are meant to be cheap guilty pleasures, bought in an ephemeral moment of “well why the fuck not”. £4 is literally out of reach for many.

  • I used to be a fan but I feel like they've jumped the shark. Flat white (which I was in need of) was £4.15 too :/

  • This is what’s up.
Pastry is spot-on, great bite and seasoned perfectly.
Filling is insanely good and plentiful. They’ve been adding bits of peel etc to a massive bucket for a couple of months and it’s got all the right flavours and textures.

  • They’ve

    Who’ve?

  • Chocolatine in Walthamstow.

  • First home made mince pie of the season (we’ve only had a functioning oven since Friday).

Pastry is spot on; nice crunch, which is surprising since it’s gluten free, and not too sweet. Filling probably could do with a bit more brandy, but some brandy butter helped to elevate it.

  • I should add that this was the worst looker of the lot, the rest are much less messy.

  • She’s a beauty!

  • Picked up a box of 6 and today. Best value mincer in town

  • the pale pastry is nothing to do with being vegan. you just got a bad batch. we had a terrible box of very underbaked MPs from Greggs in Glasgow. we put them in the air fryer and they were back to their usual glory

  • My thought process was that the veganess would've negated an eggy/milk wash but they did brown up a bit more after an air fry. Maybe they slightly underbake so people can reheat at home without burning or they're just terrible.

  • Did a batch of home made. Taste ok. Mince was ancient but seems ok and the pastry was way less tough than usual.
