Yeah, changing the pump hose and head is definitely worth doing.
The brass press fit pump head seems to work well on mine. The Silca barrel and build quality is excellent, so a pump head that you prefer is the best of both worlds.
I have a Boardman pump that is built like a tank, but the double sided pump head was a bit shite. Cut it off and replaced with an SKS one and it’s been working really well.
Always fancied a Silca Pista though, and I can sell it on eBay for £££ if I don’t get on with it.

Fabulous find! What part of the country do you live where you have discarded B&W speakers on the street?

I bit of a random find today.
Liz and I have a thing for disposable things made of nice materials. Like our plastic knife, fork and spoon set that’s made of stainless or the wooden chip fork that’s made of silver or the 80’s vending machine white plastic cups made of bone china . Well we now have a plastic gelato tub, microwave meal tub made of porcelain. £4.50 don’t mind if I do.

Have had a few good finds this year(very slow at work) but this one is by far the best. Walked into an op shop and the door to the back was open. Saw the manager throwing a La pavoni lever pull into the skip😱. Asked about it and he said that their in house electrician had checked it and it wasn't earthed and needed a new plug so was deemed not worth the effort to figure out what was going on to then sell. Manager said that I can have it for free as long as I accepted responsibility.
Both super easy fixes but it did also need a new seal kit which thankfully a shop down the road had in stock.

Oh, this is fun thread. In the charity shops etc. I like to check the tool selection, most of the stuff tends to be cheap, but I've picked up for example a 3/8" Craftsman breaker bar, some Austrian made pliers etc. for a few euros.
I live in a neighbourhood where many (at least like to) seem to be quite well-off, I always check the recycling bins on my way to the grocery store as that's where things that people are too lazy to sell or recycle properly are dumped. Definitely the best find I've made there is a Cuenca mod. 30 classical guitar. It was in a pretty nice condition, but dirty and with a broken string. Also, an early 00's big JVC boomblaster was a fun salvage and a good workshop radio. Third place probably goes to a Bosch grass trimmer.
Someone can correct me, but pretty sure these Silca's all have standard seals and parts that can esily be replaced. It's one of the reasons I bought mine originally.
Ymmv but I always found the head an absolute cunt to use. Chopped the hoze off and replaced it with a 'Topeak Smarthead Floor Pump Hose Kit Upgrade'. I realise it's many, many times more than you paid for the pump but for ~£30 it's absolutely fucking fantastic.
