  • Came to spaff off about Pest Control, but it seems my last post ages ago was also about them!

    https://open.spotify.com/track/5Z8sRDlOoXhYuMSJeQuOHC?si=1b5cd5d53df14a55

I need to expand my noise of choice, but I keep coming back to the good stuff

  • Yes, I like this noise.

We Butter The Bread With Butter, German metalcore, a new genre I enjoy.

  • Not strictly metal but Full of hells latest release Scraping the divine on heavy rotation
    https://fullofhell.bandcamp.com/album/scraping-the-divine

Top track Burdened by solar mass

Hoping I can go see them with Crowbar and Napalm Death soon…

  • Any recommendations for doomy stuff with sung vocals? I’m really into Pallbearer (first two albums), YOB, Candlemass, some Melvins, OM, Electric Wizard, that kind of thing. Preferably where 7 minutes into a song, there’s a drop or key change that makes me want to smash whatever surroundings I happen to be in at the time. But also with impressive, perhaps operatic, singing.

  • Hangman’s Chair, of (comparatively) new bands. Warning from the old guard. Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard for spacey weird shit

  • Khemmis, Woods of Ypres, Borknagar.

  • Thanks! I quite like Ypres in a Pagan Altar way but can’t stand the lyrics.
Hangman’s Chair could be a grower, kind of goes where I wish Pallbearer went.
Familiar with Bork, will check out Khemmis

  • I don't really frequent this thread but Pest Control are pals of mine. I used to live in Leeds and our old bands used to play together a lot. Great to see them doing so well!

  • I've spent the year going to as many gigs locally as possible, supporting the scene and having a laugh. Some really good local bands here ApathyUK being a highlight and Emerald Eyes also kill it live.

Hardcore is also big here so got to see a few bands with Pintglass being a standout band.

Best band of the year for me was a few weeks ago, Vulvodynia but I do love slam.

Best non local small band (I'm Cornwall so they're kind of local from Bristol) Chewing glass collective.

So many good bands I've missed. Truly forgot how much I love live music. Next year I already tickets to Cryptopsy, Decapitated and Scordatura.

  • Awesome!
Tell them from me I love their shit!

Warning - Watching from a Distance
40 Watt Sun - The Inside Room

the first two I reminded myself via this tag/website - so might be worth a scroll (my fav metal review site in general):
