  • Hah mine prefers moccona. It certainly saves money

  • Wives of the lfgss coffee thread

  • I love that the hive mind give’th to the coffee thread on a Sunday at 0700.

    God bless us, everyone.

  • Boring but critical update...

1hr in the freezer and a going over with a wire brush and my lock ring squeezed on with the oil filter wrench. Gave it another going over and a light greasing and it span all the way in by hand 😁

Full seal/gasket set should be arriving tomorrow. The plan is to put it back together with the original components and firstly see if there are any leaks in the boiler and check if the element works.

Bonus if the original element works too. It'll get a descale inside, a deep clean on the outside and then rebuilt probably in the new year.

  • Leaking pstat connection is my bet

  • Can I fix that with whatever tools I can find ?

  • Couple of spanners to tighten it, may be worth getting some ptfe tape wrapped round the threads!

  • I enjoyed watching this while you’re on the subject.

  • The circled areas are giving me all kinds of anxiety.

You also need to hammerite that rust stat.

  • Wire brush and you'll be fine

  • That'd be my bet, at least if those white marks are watermarks from the leak. Might also be worth checking if any of the 3 allen bolts holding the element cap onto the flange are loose.

  • Nice work! A damn cool little project to be working on for sure

  • I checked them all- done up tight.

I’ll have to buy the spanners - does anyone know the sizes?

  • 17mm for both the pstat itself and the pstat pipe. You could probably get away with 1x 17mm and an adjustable if you have one.

  • I have zero tools sadly, just whatever I can improvise or buy
