  • No need for that! I should go check how wide the wheels I have in the cellar are before doing anything stupid.

  • Failed with a couple of my weekend bike jobs.

Gold chainring bolts are too long, so don't tighten, bit wank, but hey ho.
Wider tyres are on, sit very nicely under the mudguards, they still have tubes in, I'm done with fighting with a standard track pump to get tyres inflated. May order one of them Airshot things.

    Successful with other jobs though,

Hulsroy bottle cages fitted, lovely they look too.
XTR rear derailleur has been cleaned and fitted, buttery smooth rapid rising abounds.
Nitto S65 seat post has been fitted.
    Mince pies have been eaten.

  • A weekend well-spent! How does it ride? Good weather for mudguards!

  • Fantastic weather for mudguards.

I've not had chance to do a proper ride yet, was hoping to go out this coming Saturday, that's not gonna happen though, having a royal visit (my mum's coming down for the day).
Just from riding to and from work it feels very good, probably feel even better once the tyres are tubeless, Airshot and a new track pump should be with me by Wednesday, looking forward to seeing how well the Airshot works.

  • Late to the party but this is great @jontea
Turned out beautifully, love the shiny bits and those ceanks against the sparkly grey.

You're making me want another Winston!

  • Cheers Gareth.
It's worked out rather well, hopefully I'll get a proper cake ride in some time during the Christmas break.
    Do it!

  • Unexpected larger xmas bonus (not golf club territory, more working mens club) has facilitated the purchasing of new rims and hubs (what I originally wanted, but spent that money on the custom stem and Middleburns).
May sell the Kinlin/novatecs in the new year.

  • Hey, can't see if you mentioned it, but do you know what BB spindle length you're using and what chainline you ended up with? As mentioned I might copy the arrangement, possibly sooner rather than later as I realised today that the 2x chainset I have on another bike is cracked.

  • No idea what the chainline I ended up with measures, but the bb is 113mm.

  • Ta, think that's the same as what I've got. Sounds workable.
