Tattoos take longer than you’d think, artists hate people hanging around all day. I’d think at most an artist would be able to do 8-10 even if small. It’s the setup time that kills it.
Depending on numbers you’d potentially need multiple artists/book out the whole studio to do it.It’s a shame Dharma on Roman Rd closed as they’d have probably been down.
I feel like a couple of people off here from the early days became full time tattooists but no idea who they are or where they’re based. -
I think Chris Hewish was on here for a spell, but fairly sure he was outed as a wrong 'un (IRL)
I remember him as an apprentice at The Family Business when I was getting tattooed there (by other artists, not him)And yes, to your point, setups take ages. I was being hyperbolic with the "dozens" comment, I just know a few tattooist I've seen can get annoyed doing the same thing over and over

Yeah, I’m definitely not going down the Hewish route, I got done by him before it turned out he was a dirtbag. It’s technically my worst tat anyway, all blowy and took eons to heal. I believe he ended up in some iffy shop out in the ‘burbs somewhere.
Honestly I think any old school tat shop that deals in walk ins, football team logos, kids names etc wouldn’t give a shit.
I’ll drop @lalhardy a message in the new year, he might be up for it, but personally I suspect a flash day would be a nightmare to arrange and a massive upfront cost as the artist would expect more than their normal full day rate(because of the multiple setups).Also, there may be folks on here who are no longer in the uk/london who want to get it so a simple design that any artist could do would be the best bet.

So, obviously we can get a handful of designs and at the end of the day get whatever they want.
I’ve never heard of Ride magazine so it’s not relevant to the forum(for me at least).
I’d happily just get the logo in its font as it appears on my browser but would rather something a bit more fun.
I think a tombstone was mentioned in the sticker thread as well, a design that works for both would be cool.
I’d 100% get a tombstone.No doubt if we trawl our memories we could come up with all sorts of obscure references that could be a tattoo.
Simple is good- bold will hold and all that. I’m thinking a design that even an apprentice couldn’t fuck up. -

A number 13 for £13 on Friday the 13th is/was a common tattoo shop promo. It’s probably a number 30 for £30 on Friday the 30th due to inflation now!
Anywhere that’s done that would have an idea of how many they could get through in a day.
I’d maybe handpoke one on myself. Tombstone being my vote.

I haven’t seen a £31 Friday 13th flash day in a couple of years and never a £13 in london(maybe I’m too young), I’d assume any London studios min charge is over £50 now unless it’s a dump.
My experience of flash days like that was dharma and the old femme fatale where 200+ would turn up and the artists would go all night. Let’s see what kind of numbers we get as to whether or not it’s worth booking a day for it. I’d assume the weekend of closing would be hard to arrange as folks will be gsiad/bridges/partying as well. -
Maybe a tattoo design maybe for something else commemorative but I bet Jo Burt would do something cool especially given Velocios avatar. Is he on here ? I'm bound to have someone mutual in my contacts otherwise

So it seems there’s a real appetite for a wee tattoo to commemorate the passing/possible rebirth of this place.
In my head it’s a simple 2-3” max gap filler, just linework, something that would squeak in as minimum charge(ish) at most places. Sound about right?
I’ve sent word to @General_Lucifer to see if he’s up for designing us a little something in his incomparable style - @hupalinocuts on insta for those not familiar with his work these days, not heard back yet but he’s up to his eyeballs in Christmas markets at the moment. Open to other designers of course though.
What I guess we need is an image file that folks can take to the studio of their choice in their area- I’d love to organise a flash day somewhere where we could have a bike pile out front and bang through a load of us but realistically that’ll be a nightmare, because it’s like herding cats on here at the best of times.
That said if anyone knows a studio that’ll be a good choice then feel free to suggest it.
So, for now, this is a place for lists and potential designs, heck, it’s not like everyone has to get the same thing anyway….
