Great! Glad it all worked out. For what it's worth, for my rear guard I was able to use just a regular socket head bolt (the same profile as your stem bolt) and it doesn't touch the tire. I have quite wide guards and tires, though, plenty of space in between. It might be different with skinnier tires!
woow, Accu looks like an amazing resource, if you know what you looking for.
Thankfully I've got lots of M5 stem cap bolts in the parts bin and one of those has married perfectly with the female nut off an old rim brake which will do just the job, thanks for the idea.
for the rear fender I'm sure sure I have some mushroom headed bolt cage bolts that will work and hopefully I wont need any spacer as I think I'm going to need more clearance rather than less.
