  • Carry on Netflix. Fucking awful series of ripped off scenes from much better films. Bateman was a rubbish villain and Egerton has a crap run.

  • Egerton has a crap run.

But does a lot of it, and has it brought up in the dialogue way to often as if it's of any real importance.

  • Carry on Netflix

  • The best Christmas film is Das Boot. (The five hour version obvs.) It has that cosy sit-close-to-the-fire feeling. Which is all you need for a Christmas film. It's five hours of that feeling, non stop. Unbeatable.

Bonus: the cameraman wore a Cinelli sausage-style cycling helmet to protect his head when running through submarine hatches. https://vimeo.com/19688881
    At 02:52.

  • Christmas Films - someone told me to watch Dead Bang. Iā€™d never heard of it before tonight.

  • Lovely bit of festive necrophilia.

  • Saw the Bob Dylan film A Complete Unknown tonight. His music has never done much for me but I thought the movie was excellent

  • This, very much this.

  • A Private War, being a bit topical since Assad's fall. The directing and script is a bit simplistic, but Rosamind Pike's performance is great (and she's almost unrecognisable). Best supplemented with "Storyville: Under the Wire".

  • How did you get to see it? It's not released in the UK till 17th Jan and 25 Dec in the US

  • His music has never done much for me

  • Everyman opening party for their new cinema in Stratford .

  • Seen the trailers and an extended interview with Chalomet.

It does look fantastic capturing the Greenwich Village 60s vibe.

Reminds me of the coen brothers film Llewyn Davis

  • You could do worse than 'Triangle of Sadness' on iPlayer.

  • Not much worse though.

  • Thanks again to @EB , I've watched two films on mubi so far.
The Substance, good film, thought Demi Moore was very good, I would say I endured it rather than enjoyed it (I'm a bit queasy with 'body horror')
Tonight I've watched Carol, what a beautiful film.

  • Decided to finally watch Zone of Interest as a little pre-Xmas treat. About 2/3rds of the way through and all I can say is fucking hell.

  • Really enjoyed The Substance. Was properly out there, they really went for it to deliver something not much less than exceptional. Recommend.

  • Re. Carol I don't really rate it. Well shot but not even the best lesbian flick of its year, I thought Summer Time was infinitely better.

  • I went in blind, didn't know anything about Carol, but it seemed well rated on mubi, wasn't watching it as a lesbian flick, was watching as a crimble film,so I'm guessing that , by it's title, Summertime wouldn't have worked.

  • If you want another festive lesbian film, Happiest Season is worth a watch.

For more of a gay vibe, Single all the way is stupid fun and has Jennifer Coolidge in it.

  • No worries šŸ‘

  • I think Zone of Interest is one of the best films I've ever seen. Watching it is really stretching the definition of "treat" though.

  • Agreed. I'm still traumatised but it felt important to experience it.
