I considered the Gamma over the Lambda because of the pins but yeah, not sure of the looks. I have several sets of the Nukeproof plastic ones and think I’ll just go with them for my build. While they are way too modern they are fairly slim so suit the svelteness of the rest of the bike and dark coloured so won’t stick out too much I hope. Plus, you can’t see them while you’re riding and neither can anyone else really.
I put XC iii on my recent Rockhopper project, really an esthetician driven choice. They seem fairly grippy but definitely not on the level of the Nukeproofs so it’ll be interesting to see how they do once I get the chance to do some off roading on that bike and feet are all wet and muddy etc.

I bought a set of nylon Crankbrothers Stamp on clearance that I am eager to try on the atb when no mudguard riding is viable again - pins on those are 2-3 times longer than anything else I've ridden, so I'm worried they'll just chew up the soles of my shoes.
I have a set of Lambda that are around 8-10 years old by now - and for casual and gravel riding, I haven't lacked grip, even without the pins.
I agree that is part of the reason I haven't bought a set, even though they are on sale at danish shop..
I have a set of MKS Allways, which are very nice, if a touch on the narrow side for my feet/singlespeeding
Pretzel is the diecast full width version of the Lambda/Gamma, though I'm not entirely convinced of the aesthetics
