  • hairdryer, some rubber gloves and a sponge. Keeps it hot and viscous while you move it around. Should make it more waterproof too as it get into the seams

  • For some reason I'm associating these acoutrements with the ebay AI pic.

  • I was fairly over the top when applying to the seams.

I gave it a little hairdryer treatment and will see what happens when it next rains.

Going to have a go on my green one next.

  • Could do with some help as I'm really struggling with my Xmas party outfit

I've put on weight this year so am not hopeful about fitting into my DJ. Also the theme is 80s Miami.

I don't want to spend loads of money, nor do I want to look like a cunt. Basically what are my low key options to blend in? Not as many people as I'd expected wore DJ's last year. So I was wondering about a suit. But I don't want to buy an evening suit when I'll have no other use. I was wondering about either trying to get some pleated trousers and some form of jacket, or a pink bow tie and force myself into my DJ.

    What are my options?

I have a bricks and mortar big M&S a short drive which is open late - so this would be the ideal. I'll be in Canary Wharf one day too.

  • Pull a sicky and you won't have to worry about it. Win win.

  • I'm so close to doing this.

But then this also feels like a turning point where I've realised that my weight is holding me back as I am not doing something because I'm too self conscious.

  • Pastel (baby blue or pink) suits with a white tshirt, roll-necks and white suits, or for the easiest option something like Magnum PI with a horrible shirt and tight jeans, lots of chest hair showing?

  • Friend of mine did a black tie event in this

  • Quite fancy this but need to get rid of a few jackets first.

Where is the best place to sell these days? Got a snow peak parka thats not been worn, an arcteryx LEAF similar to the alpha SV and a few other bits...

  • I don't want to spend loads of money, nor do I want to look like a cunt.

I guess one out of two isn't bad.

  • yeah pastel suit, rolled sleeves and a bright t shirt underneath.

  • I have a loose pastel pink t-shirt. It's just everything else I lack.

I think I'm too old for this and need to come up with an excuse. Especially given all the grief I got for buying a new shirt last year and this year money is tighter.

  • Do you have a regular suit that fits at the moment? I'd be temped to wear that with a your pastel pink t-shirt for a take on the Miami vice look. Otherwise just wear the t-shirt with any existing trousers you own. No-one is going to mind, and better that than buying a new outfit to be worn exactly once!

  • lots of chest hair showing

    Boasting about your manly hirsuteness!

  • This feels like a real shame that the theme is making you not want to attend, what should be a fun event with your colleagues.

My thought would be to wear something that you feel comfortable in and will just allow you to go and have fun.

What size are you? I have a Uniqlo Lemaire resort shirt you’re welcome to that could fit the ‘Miami’ brief and just wear it with some suitable trousers

  • This feels like a real shame that the theme is making you not want to attend, what should be a fun event with your colleagues.

    +1

  • +2

  • Message in from the fairy godmother is says
"You're either going or not going, wear what the fuck you want despite what someone wrote in a fuckin fax"
She's old , old but good

  • Wear regular clothes, drink pina coladas, be on theme, have fun, hope it is on a work night so the hangover is on company time.

  • Just wear outrageous sunglasses all night (try not to trip up)

  • pastel T-shirt
DJ unbuttoned with sleeves rolled / pushed up
Any (baggy / pleated?) trousers / jeans.
whatever footwear - plimsoles / espadrilles / trainers - just not brogues.
