  • Not convinced Jeremy Clarkson and the daily Mail are taking notes on me waiting patiently at a red light. But sure, incidents like this definitely shift the narrative their way

  • I get where you're coming from, but cognitive bias will have us all forgetting the five waiting at the light vs. the one that hits the person. The average person will have even less nuance.

I can forgive a clear junction roll through but anything involving an active crossing and/or pedestrians is heresy IMO.

  • all cyclists

  • Group order?

  • I GIVE KERNING A BAD NAME

  • To un-derail my thread derailment, here's my ride-by time lapse of North Peckham estate's wonderful brick tower through the seasons, which I've been doing over the past year. Anyone else doing anything similar?

Edit: pictures uploaded out of order, so you can decide on an order

  • No commute today as put on call from Jury duty, so took the opportunity to get in some fixed 'training' miles before hopefully riding HDIJ. Out on Epping New Road to Epping, them Epping Upland, Nazeing, Waltham Abbey and back via Sewardstone, up Mott Street (at no more than 6 mph as I got stuck behind a mini digger-not sure if that made it harder or easier...), back down Lippits Hill, which was a bit sketchy with wet leaves everywhere, then home via Daws Hill/Bury Road and Rangers road to Epping New Road again.

32 odd miles in total, gearing felt good for Epping Forest and surrounds "hills" such as they are, don't feel too tired which is rather a suprise as I have barely ridden any distance since my daughter was born two and half years ago. HDIJ feels more realistic now.

  • Aside from the mini digger, had to do Mott Street from a standing start as some evil wanks had flytipped what looks like asbestos roofing panels all up the lower part of Mott Street. Obviously these have got broken smashed etc with cars driving over them. Had to ride around them carefully. Hope the fuckers get a stray fibre in their lungs

  • It's very nice, in a great spot too-open one side and views of the forest too the other

  • Not sure if it's a Christmas thing, but they've put blue lights in the lamposts in the park...

  • That's great at night since your eyes have trouble focusing with blue light.

  • there was a fad for putting blue lights in places as it was thought to make it more difficult for heroin users to find a vein. How much smack have you been doing in the park?

  • is that so? too much then apparently!

  • In other news;

Working a late tonight, so in Parliament Sq. about 10.30pm going home. There was a group of lads on those hire electric scooter, next thing there's a Taxi going along with sparks flying out from under it, making a racket, cab not stopping must of known that something was under his cab being dragged along the road.

The scooter lads come round the corner, shouting aggitated at the cab, one stops to give his mate a lift who is now sans scooter!

It really looked like lads were on scooters and somehow one got trapped under the cab which drove off. Some or all of them playing very silly buggers.

  • Get a life.

  • Close pass by a Waitrose driver this lunchtime has left me questioning reality.

  • last cycle commute of 2024 yesterday, i just fitted the tyres and new wheels the night before but didn't have any sealant so put some tubes in...
    tubeless sealant now purchased!
