I'm moving to Amsterdam, anyone out there? I'll need friends! I'm nice.

Dredging up this old thread as I'm heading to Amsterdam for a few days in the new year. I haven't been in about 8 years so I'm looking for recommendations. Things to do, places to eat.

There will be cycling but only to get around the city.

I live in Amsterdam - what sort of things do you like doing/want to eat? Got a google map list of good food places I can share with you

Great. I'm opening to eating anything that's good

Doing we've rijksmuseum and and van Gogh museum planned so I'm open to suggestions outside of that

Sauna Deco

You can go ride the velodrome in Sloten, a fun 200m track. They just got some new rental bikes.

Have beers at café l'Affiche, or Festina Lente. Great coffee at Rum Baba. Or Trakteren Koffie if you're in for a chat, but that may be a bit outside your designated area. But if you have bikes, it's all nearby. And who knows, you may run into Tommy Windmills.

One can always go on a boat cruise through the city centre, I do it every now and then and still enjoy it. One can rent a small private boat or go on an organized cruise, big or small crowds.

Any specific interests, don't hesitate to ask.

Ha. The best thing is that's the area I'm staying in so they'll all be on my doorstep.

Im going to away but have not organised someone to look after my cat in our amsterdam apartment. Anyone want to house sit or can drop in a couple of days between 23 and 3rd? Amsterdam is great!!!

In de Wildeman for beers. I'm also a big fan of Mulder's Café and the Belgian place just off Dam Square (assuming it's still there). And I'd recommend the boat cruise too - it's such a great way of seeing the city.
