Siri used to have more of a personality but the ethics folks behind the scenes realised they were blurring the lines of reality too much for people who were treating Siri as if it were a person, so they made it less ‘human’. A similar thing has happened with ChatGPT.

Interesting POV, according to NY Times Claude is doing really well (off a low base) because they've injected more of a personality into the model

A couple of years ago, I asked my iPhone: "Siri, shut yourself off"
It replied "I'm sorry Peter, I'm afraid I can't do that"
Tried to replicate this a couple of times afterwards, but never got that answer again. I thought it was funny though.
