Where am I going to go to find out people don't really want to ride fixed anymore?!?!?!?
Seriously though I am a bit cut up about this, my riding life has mostly been filtered through LFGSS. I have made some very good and very weird friends through LFGSS

https://www.cbinsights.com/research/report/how-discord-makes-money/
According to Discord CTO and co-founder Stanislav Vishnevskiy, “We have intentionally pursued a business model that does not rely on monetizing our users’ data.” To this end, Vishnevskiy and the rest of the executive team are sure enough of the company’s ability to grow revenue that they turned down a $12B acquisition offer from Microsoft. But the question remains whether Discord’s ad-free model will be able to support further growth and eventual profitability.

Hence the off-shoring option.

I have so many things to say and just can't bring myself to say them just yet.
I am sat in a library, literally about to cry my fucking eyes out.
But, one thing I do want to say immediately is that @Velocio should indeed be knighted.
A few years back I actually tried to get the ball rolling to nominate you for an MBE. I dropped that ball and now I regret it whole heartedly.
You have done more good for more people than almost anyone else I can think of. You have always been inspirational for me. Thank you.
As for the more broad sentiment of this place, this amazing place, I will bring myself to write something. When I can.
This. Is. Awful.
Here. Is. wonderful. -

There is always the risk that anyone you could be communicating with on any other platform could secretly be harbouring the desire to ride fixed and DAS.
I'd reach out to Ofcom about this for inclusion in their new thingy...

On the tickbox list of things that will trigger an investigation from ofcom I would imagine LFGSS doesn’t have any, plus they will be massively understaffed and have to use their meagre resources to focus on the real nasty stuff and the people who own and run those sites.
But it’s Velocio’s forum to do with what he likes.
I know nothing about running one but surely there are places that can run forums based in far flung nations that would be outside the scope of this act?

What better than a book about a website which no longer exists?

well you know what this has been an absolute shitter of a week and this additional news really isn't helping. given that this is p much the only site I use, maybe it will help me to spend more time in the actual real world.
just really shit news.

If you'd only chased up the MBE stuff @mashton we would be on a different timeline. DK thanked for their work, elevated somehow to the Lords, leads the charge for the abolishment of the Lords and the Crown, a much nicer place to live in, social revolution.
It's all your fault. Just remember that when there is no LFGSS.

My "mashton killed fixed gear" stickers just got a whole lot more real.

I wouldn't go anywhere. Perhaps there are other oases like this on the Internet, but as far as I know Velocio is the only one who's declined the option to mine user data. Ever since Google turned the Internet against its users, the model of sucking people in by pretending that on-line activities are 'free', it's effectively turned into a dystopian nightmare.
A much better strategy for governments (and probably, ultimately, essential to their survival) would be to simply outlaw data-exploiting anti-social media shites, but obviously there's no chance of that.

Right, let's talk about some important stuff.
We need a GSIAD and a PARTY

The night of Saturday 15th March seems ideal.

GSIAD, followed by a party, followed by a bridges ride.
