  • hello again guitar nerds.

my son still plays, he's in a band and they are semi good. i get a lot of vicarious happiness from his musicianship, so i thought maybe when he comes home i'd see if he wants to go into town and buy another guitar.

he has a basic electric guitar (Squier Jazzmaster) and a not bad acoustic guitar, so i was thinking maybe a hollow body electric or an electro-acoustic.

what would be a good shop in london to go to where he could try a few out, and ideally not be a high pressure sales type situation?

  • Wunjo's are really relaxed and you can pick up pretty much any guitar and have a go. They don't stock Gibson/Epiphone though, aside from the odd second hand one, so that might be a factor, but at least you have other stores nearby.

In general, Denmark st is good from the low pressure POV as they're clearly used to having tourists and perusers drop by with no real intent to buy but I've always found the Wunjo's staff to be really friendly and helpful if you need them to be.

What style of music is he into and what does his band play? As @RonAsheton says, a Squier Jazzmaster can be a very capable guitar, so maybe also worth looking into pedals/amps?
