Ain’t much wrong with that.

Nice! Funnily enough I was relearning that Free Salute chord sequence the other day. It's lots of fun to play around with and just unusual enough to be interesting.

It's a bit out of tune in that clip. And it was pre string tree install so the higher strings were still flapping about a bit. But yeah! Digging it.
While i'm on a roll I might see about bringing the Guild M120 back to life. Man I wish I had somewhere I could make sawdust.

Any interest in a 1998 Epiphone Flying V Korina? Made in the Unsung factory in Korea. Has some dings in the body, neck is blemish free and really nice. I can't remember the last time I got it out.

That's lovely. Makes my Classic Vibe Squire look a bit shit!

Love it, very Steve Cropper. Apart from that neck pup, obvs.
So Gibson are selling vintage guitars now?? Mark Agnesi's influence getting bigger by the day?

You can presumably buy a real 1955 for cheaper than that. I'm not sure why you wouldn't...

That is a real '55 Black Beauty! It's interesting that they're going in this direction, becoming vintage Gibson guitar dealers/brokers.
-
• #15614
They've been doing this for ages now. https://www.musicradar.com/news/we-are-changing-vintage-guitar-collecting-forever-gibson-officially-launches-certified-vintage-program

Ah, I had no idea!

I can't imagine it's a massive earner for them. But if you're a high-end collector I can see why buying direct from Gibson is reassuring; it's like getting a letter of authenticity when buying art I suppose.

I suspect the trickle down effect of this is also that their reissue guitars get the benefit of association with the real deal...
If Gibson are getting a bunch of real 1955's through the door then their reissue 1955 must be a good one etc.

Ah no way - I didn't know they did that. I wonder why, there's only half a dozen of them on their website.

Anyone have a 1x10 or 1x12 speaker cab for sale? And or a (cheap) 5w tube combo or head? Any condition . Also freeze or freeze style/hold pedal- multi amp/drone setup is what I’m going for!
Thanks!

Have a Casino made by Unsung around the same time and it's a cracking guitar! Wish I had the spare cash to grab the V!

It's a lovely playing guitar. A total Blues monster! I just don't use it.

hello again guitar nerds.
my son still plays, he's in a band and they are semi good. i get a lot of vicarious happiness from his musicianship, so i thought maybe when he comes home i'd see if he wants to go into town and buy another guitar.
he has a basic electric guitar (Squier Jazzmaster) and a not bad acoustic guitar, so i was thinking maybe a hollow body electric or an electro-acoustic.
what would be a good shop in london to go to where he could try a few out, and ideally not be a high pressure sales type situation?
-
• #15623
I can't believe I'm saying this but does he actually need another guitar? If that's what he wants maybe an Epi 335? Humbuckers, semi acoustic, sexy AF, very different to a JM. Or a Gretsch for something a bit more flamboyant?
If he likes his acoustic you can always put an aftermarket pickup in it for stage duties.

Guitar Guitar in Camden has the largest stock of central London guitar shops I think, and they’re pretty relaxed
Ok, nut fettled and string trees attached. Went with two in the end as I hate the ringy
behind the nut resonance thing you get when the g string doesn’t have enough downward pressure. It looks a bit fussy but I think it’s ok.
Had the absolute bare minimum to do on relief, nut slot height and intonation. It’s basically spot on as is. Just wanted the corners of the nut softened and that was it. Am super happy with how it feels and sounds! Like have a new guitar that’s also an old friend. Very happy.
