  • Even.
Like @mashton but I took two letters. Then when looking at the clue it made sense after some minutes.
It's all laid out there. You just need to know how to read it.

  • Good work!

  • I might not have scored well but I didn't need to watch the video.

  • I am still kicking myself for doing maths in a word play puzzle.

    What a fool.

  • I did too. THE WORDS ARE TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO.

  • One under took letter, no idea how the clue works, just remembered some of the scientific buttons on my school calculator and took a guess.

  • Yesterday was GAME (gA backwards silver, “me” being the clue setter, who is a prick for this clue – does “game” really mean fearless? Isn’t it just “up for it”?)

  • does “game” really mean fearless?

    No. Shit clue, yesterday's.

  • Yeah it does.

    Game = Up for it.

  • I know, but does it in turn translate as "fearless"? Without being tenuous.

  • "game" and "fearless" can totally be used synonymously.:

"mashton would like to jump over this shark to get to the treasure?"
    "Sure, I'm game" / "Sure, I'm fearless"

Yes this is a bit tenuous, but these are cryptic crossword clues. Tenuous is par for the course.

  • It's more evicdence to suggest English spoken English is a violence.

  • it was something about silver being AG and the setter being me... it's come back to me - the clue was something about being brave when the setter confronted a silverback, and it was Ag (silver chemical symbol) backwards + me making "game".

Thanks - I had the GA bit, but hadn't got to the ME.

  • Twunder

  • Same. A good simple one

  • Yes, a pleasing clue to start the day.

Worth taking a step back and admiring the surface reading - I really enjoy it when the clue makes such consistent sense as a sentence, with a meaning that is (almost) nothing to do with the eventual answer.

  • Also, fnar, part of the process of solving it involves a word that is highly pertinent to where I solve the daily minute cryptic.

  • 2 under

  • Took a hint, easy then, then a step back and look at solving the clue. Nice one under.

  • 2
    Under

  • Ungh.
    +1

  • 2+ not the direction I assumed it was going in
