Mikey's dad was killed by a drunk driver. Using a phone reduces your reaction times as a driver in the same way, if not worse. The police are unable to enforce this widespread, casual and deadly behaviour. Mikey is a great guy who actively makes cycling safer for everyone and I love him to bits. His calmness under the barrage of abuse he gets online and in real life is what makes the abuse so funny, he never rises to it or gets flustered. He also builds really cool radio controlled gliders

I'm surprised that a. I wasn't the only one to question Mikey, but the only one to be called on it*; and that b. seemingly intelligent people (ie you lot) can't see the nuance; someone doing a good thing can still be a wanker.

He's getting hundreds of dangerous (potentially lethal) drivers fined for their behaviour. I'm not getting what's bad about this.

If tech companies ever did anything socially worthwhile, it would be extremely easy to police and enforce that people didn't use mobile phones whilst driving.

If there is no effective enforcement, then you will end up with citizens like Mikey.

I had never heard of him until I saw that clip, but it is hard to understand how you would watch it and decide he was the problem.

^ & ^^ I guess there's an argument he could be reporting them quietly, same number & same outcomes? I'd counter that with by showing what & how he can encourage others to do similar meaning more 'policing' of these offences around the country.

He has caused alot more cyclists to record and report bad driving because by sharing widely what he does, people can see that it is effective and that drivers are actually punished. I don't record or report, because the stress would eat me up, and I have admiration for someone who takes this level of abuse to keep other people safe.
