The government should have some sort of travel advice for tourists warning about this kind of thing...

If a person aged 18 or over has a sexual relationship with a person aged 17 or under, they will be prosecuted for having a sexual relationship with a minor.

My take is that it was unnecessary for the mum to report it, given the facts we have.

I think that is a different issue. The reporting mum is a bit of a dick by my standards but I also have limited sympathy for people that get caught breaking laws that some fairly basic research would have alerted them to.

The mum was wrong to report him but he was also wrong to sleep with a minor in the UAE.
