  • They are milking the launch but not much on the website yet, new colours on IG today and tomorrow, if you've not seen, the first one is up.

Very close to cinelli laser blue..

  • I briefly ran my faran, when I had it, with a ritchey 50mm offset adventure fork and 28mm tyres. Quite liked the handling, was responsive but not twitchy.

  • Still tempted to swap my desert order to this. But also thinking a future strael in that blue would be sick (if they made one). And a Holt in moss. Maybe getting ahead of myself and my finances there though!

I've a desert Holt, still lust over the violet but think it's a good long term choice. Not sure how I feel about desert on the Secan but it is growing, one of the Wizard works duo has one that I've seen a few times now https://www.instagram.com/wizard.works/

Think my partner is going to pick blue. I'm a little nervous about making it work (with cinelli laser on the brain). They are limited to black finishing kit (bars, seatpost, hubs, shifters), may need to step in with a silver crankset.. hopefully the lookbook documents are out today, curious to see the blue with some purple Hope.

Strael in that new blue would be hard to resist.

    Great to know, thanks!

  • at this point you should be sponsored

  • Nah, not got that in me 😅. Trip by pannier.cc, Nelson was one of the guides

Got it, thanks. Good to see not just races in these regions.

  • On my bucket list too. SRMR prob above me, but something like this seems doable... https://bikepacking.com/routes/expedition-alay/

  • Ah nice, thank you! I don't do Insta so didn't see.

I'm feeling miffed that I'm now stuck behind the curve on V2.5. The mods to the rear triangle seem mostly aimed to fit bigger 700c tyres — looks like 650b is over. The tweaks to the geometry generally make fit more consistent through the size range, a shortcoming pointed out by (ahem) The Radavist in their very extended review (of a V2.0, I think).

It is a pity if 650b is obsolescent. The argument made by Gerard Vroomen for the 3T Exploro — must be 10 years ago now — that the diameter of a fat gravel tyre on 650b was the same as that of a road tyre on 700c, still holds good. There's no way a bike is going to perform the same on 32mm and 55mm tyres on the same wheels.

  • Historians (and people who can use search) of lfgss, can we get to the root of the 'pdf meme'? Where and how was it originated?

  • I've recently ordered one of their outlet Faran framesets with no extras for collection, which I'm guessing are already in a box and ready to go – as this seems fairly straightforward, does anyone have any experience if turnaround is swift? Hoping to collect before Christmas.

  • Yep I picked up a Faran from their outlet about a year ago - it is all very straightforward and there's no turnaround to speak of involved. Mine was just boxed and padded up at their
facility on the estate where they're based ready for me to collect. All very quick and painless - I think I gave them the headsup when I was going in.

  • FWIW I just called Fairlight, spoke to a very friendly and helpful guy, talked through how I'm building it, and said they still need to chase and face. Postage won't delay it so I've gone for that.

Before choosing a Fairlight I was going to get a Soma, but good local service like that makes a worthwhile difference.

  • It's a shame you won't get to go and take a look, the facility they've got there is very interesting to see and it's on an estate with other interesting businesses too!

  • Trying to get the largest tyres that will fit in the Faran, it's a 61 if it makes any difference clearance-wise.

I like Gravelkings (I know) and can either get 700x50mm or 29x2.1 (these seem to be new). What are the chances of squeezing in 2.1 (roughly 53.5mm). Does anyone have any clearance pics?

  • they do in the PDF I think

  • Cheers, I checked but they don't show 700 x 50mm unfortunately, which they say is the max.

  • Are you planning 1 or 2 by?

  • Someone on here I think had 2.3 in a Faran but it rubbed on the front derailleur, but 2.1 would have been fine.

  • 1x, and an MTB chainset.

    The 2.3 might have been 650b? I'm running 700c.

  • I don't want to know because it could expose me for stealing the concept and presenting it as my own fresh take on IG

  • It was bossman

    And you are correct

  • 2.3 fits for 650b but only 1 by. I think 29 2.1 should fit. I'm currently on the GK 700 43 and there is a shit ton of space left.

  • Cheers. I’ll give it a go and report back.
