Appealing to somebody's social conscience? Very much the wrong thread.

Not even. They just get put in a digital incinerator to stop you spending too much and driving up inflation.

Serious question. Who has bought BTC above 100k and plans to hold it through the bear market? All I'm seeing is short sellers getting wrecked with quick wicks and long traders doing the same without any significant price movement... Seems like all the money has gone to the exchanges/companies that make money on the transactions for futures trading (ETF's).

Just trolling I'm gonna wait for 60k or the price starts to go flat(bear market) and when it retraces back to all time highs sell like the last couple cycles... I've been playing this game since 2019 when BTC was at 30k. Admittedly I've never caught the bottom or sold the top but I'm no professional trader... I just buy/sell on spot
-
• #2293
Have you done better than if you had bought at $30k and stayed in, ie 3.3x your initial purchase?
I reckon you might have a long wait for $60k, but who knows

The more fluctuation within price range only benefits exchanges that wipe out traders who are in over their heads with leverage... At some point the hype will end along with all the retail interest after they have been shaken out. It might not reach 60k soon but at some point you can bet that the prices will fall to create a bearish divergence. That's when to buy back in after it reaches oversold levels. I'm in no rush

Does that mean the answer is no?

That means Ive been able to take vacations and turn my profits into cash that's currently sitting in the bank. Maybe I could have made more holding and not touching it but having turned 50 this year, I've been able to go to Japan,Jamaica and most recently Hawaii without tapping into my savings. Does the comfort of not taking a hit with a crypto crash while away from the charts count for something? I slept better without skin in the game... Or am I doing it wrong? Check my Official Free world thread to verify my claim. I've even left out my trips to the Dominican and the Azores...

Am I right in thinking that you would not pay tax on any winnings from betting/gambling with btc?
-
• #2298
We have capital gains taxes here in Canada on cryptocurrency. Not sure with gambling as I don't frequent the casino... Not even when I was in Las Vegas this January. I know, what a kill joy
-
• #2299
Yes if you dispose of btc then you would be subject to cut but you don’t pay tax on any winnings from gambling (which I assume holds true for btc). So would that be a legitimate route to try and offset tax?
-
• #2300
Well maybe not legitimate but possible
