  • Say Nothing, first episode in and very good.

I was told by a friend today that I, DOLOURS (on Amazon) tells much of the same story.

  • Go on then, anyone watched the Rees-Mogg thing?

  • No fucking chance.

  • I’d rather move house, to progressively shitter and shitter houses each day than watch that waste of skin pretend to be anything other than a complete cunt.

    Did I say it right

  • I wouldn't piss on the cunt. Actually I might...

  • Just finished A Man on the Inside. It's by Michael Schur so you have to be willing to accept there will be a lot of 'heart' as well as comedy but it's also got Ted Danson so how can it fail? I've never seen him give a bad performance and he's delightful in this. Also a tribute to the cosmetic surgeon's art, like Biden if Biden had stopped half way through his series of procedures and not gone full shop-window dummy. Plenty of familiar faces from previous Schur outings too. Not as funny as Brooklyn 99 but not as mawkish as Abbott Elementary. It's good.

  • Just finished the last 2 too, lovely stuff.

  • Watching “Say Nothing”

Real not sure what to think about this. A bit too soon? At the same time it’s good to show how things have moved on. Culturally I kind of straddle the divide and it’s part of a lot of our history in a way.
I’m reminded of being on a French exchange watching the news and seeing war footage of helicopters and mortar fire and machine guns and hedgerows and armoured vehicles and country lanes that looked like home and then realising it was Northern Ireland and the war we weren’t allowed to see in Britain.
Coming back home and hearing an actor read Gerry Adams’s statements.

  • Enjoying the Raid inspired uber-violence in Gangs of London but not much else. Storyline, acting, locations all a bit of a let down considering the talent.

Just got Netflix for the first time in a few years, any crime thriller stuff to look out for or did it peak at Mindhunter?

  • There's some good crime doc series on there - the serial killer 'Tapes' ones, and The Ripper.

On the drama side, A Confession is good, and they have Unforgotten which I really liked.

  • Anyone watching Dune:prophecy? Feel like the story is a bit pish but I just like the whole feel of Dune stuff so want to continue with it. Latest episode was quite good tbf

  • Black Doves - great series. Really enjoyed it. Second season queued up nicely.

Kiera Knightly finally figured out not doing that weird thing with her mouth 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

  • My Belfast friend says it is pretty accurate, his father in law was a drinking buddy of The Dark.

I often feel how foreign news will give a more accurate independent account of what is going on somewhere. We were fed a lot of propaganda.

  • She's aged nicely, quite tasty these days

  • A bit too soon?

Leaving it till it's no longer topical would be too late.

Culturally I kind of straddle the divide

So does my family, and not just because my wee brother flew helicopters in N.I. and then married an Irish Catholic. He's a small minded bigot who managed to find an Irish Catholic woman who (for complicated family reasons) hates Ireland and the church. He'd say it was too soon, so it isn't.

hearing an actor read Gerry Adams’s statements.

Denying him "the oxygen of publicity". Oh yes.

  • Anyone watching Dune:prophecy?

Yeah agree about the story, but the sets are amazing too look at and the world building adds to the films for me.

  • I found that quite cute.

  • Too much

  • Interestingly she makes a point of doing it in Episode 2's flashback-10-years scene, I think. She might also be digitally de-aged?

    Haven't watched any more yet.

  • Finished Say Nothing.

Coming back round to this comment:

Binged Say Nothing and would recommend... definitely see Gerry Adams in a different light after watching it

Got to say the portrayal of Adams lived up to every single one of my preconceptions about him. Supprised about nothing. Reinforced all my opinions of him.

On the show in general, I enjoyed it albeit a bit hammed up in places. I guess it's similar Narcos in a way. Ultimately I think it's good to have shows like this to remind people of the reality of these conflicts.

  • Anyone watching Dune:prophecy

Yes, and as mentioned upthread, mainly because it looks and sounds so good. I'm a sucker for great costume and sets. See also Foundation

  • Hoping the coming Bladerunner series is great, fingers crossed.

  • Contain yourself.

I think she's been borderline unwatchable in every film to date, this Black Doves may be the turning point (although <1 episode in)

Edit: I've only seen Bend it, Love Actually (many times of course) and Pirates of the.

  • I think the first thing I ever saw her in was The Hole. Don't recall it being especially good. Now that I'm reminded Laurence Fox is in it, I don't want to check.

  • Don't miss this telly gold. Happening now. U & Yesterday is showing repeats of Antiques Roadshow. The expert and the owner are both wearing red trousers.
