  • really really enjoying Indy. put off buying it, and have to restart every once and a while as the fps tanks due to only 10 Gb vram (only using medium textures) but it's great

  • It seems to be pot luck.

The bad luck is very widely shared, sadly.

  • Me too. They've really captured the Indy vibe.

  • pile of shame

Now I have a name for it too

    😳

  • you just need to move around in your seat more when playing

  • Satisfactory.

If I'm not back in 1 week, tell my family that I love them.

  • Just heard a rumour Half Life 3 will be announced at the Gamer Awards tonight 😅

  • If I had £1 for every time HL3 was rumoured, I'd have bought the studio, hired every developer in the world, built the game, completed it, shelved it and then denied it ever existed.
    And still be minted.

HL2 EP3 is what we really want...

  • Lol yup. I just think it's hilarious. Rumour gaining a lot of traction, the comments on the live stream are clamouring for it. People still want it!

Personally I'm just looking forward to a vr headset that doesn't make me sick so I can play Alyx.

  • Personally I'm just looking forward to a vr headset that doesn't make me sick

Probably isn't one. It's not usually a property of specific headsets (unless they have some particular graphical flaw that triggers you) but of the VR experience itself, forcing people to look for games that have snap turning vs smooth turning, teleportation vs smooth movement and so on. I forget which headset you have (Quest?) but you might try Red Matter or its sequel; that game has more VR-specific accessibility options than any other game I've seen. You might find a combination of settings that fixes or mitigates it for you, at which point you'd at least have learned something even if most games aren't so flexible.

  • Cheers for the heads up. Yeah had a Quest 2 but sold it. Will keep a look out for Red Matter.

  • Well, the caveats of the above are "usually" and "unless they have some particular graphical flaw that triggers you". The Q2 and Q3 are quite different in technical terms, so you could also just borrow a Q3 and see how things go; I wouldn't get my hopes up, though.

The only game I can think of with more options than the Red Matter games is Assassin's Creed: Nexux. But then they had to cope with not only the usual problems but ways for people not to throw up while running along rooftops and diving head first from a church steeple into a haystack.

  • Crossing over from a quick question on the audiophiles thread…

Grabbed a cheap cheap LG stereo and wired up the speakers in the seat. Now I have 2.1-ish sound in-seat which is just amazing.

Outrun (reason for getting the Logitech G920 - and a seat) is great but might need sound levels tweaking. Metal Slug X felt like I was inside the arcade. Properly vibrating the seat.

Man… to be an adult and get the shit you dream of as a child…

  • 100%'d Indy this morning, what a great game. Looking forward to the DLC!

Also prompted me to finally pick up a new GPU because of the implementation of ray tracing made me want to see more of it in future - usually I'm not so bothered but it looked incredible even on a 3080.

Picked up Ready or Not in the Steam sale this morning too, will be getting out some Christmas frustrations arresting perps.

  • So hyped by this.

  • It’s mega when you turn up the volume.

  • How, I've been playing it loads since release and I'm still in Gizeh

  • I thought it was great, and yet felt pretty underwhelmed after finishing it. Didn't feel like I rushed through it at all, but only managed just over 20 hours.

The open levels were the highlight but the rest felt like very standard FPS fare. The non-shooty gameplay was novel for a while, but taking out Nazis with toilet brushes or whatever else came to hand got repetitive eventually.

  • It's not very deep, but I almost appreciate that about it? I enjoyed upping the abilities and being able to beat up more than one Nazi at a time.

Don't see a lot of replay value though, it's very linear.

  • I got a game called Kill Knight and it's so hard I am struggling with the tutorial.
