It's much more useful following a recent update, which means you can use it for cloud streaming https://blog.playstation.com/2024/11/19/the-playstation-portal-remote-player-experience-to-evolve-with-new-system-update/
The web says it can be used as a second controller..
My brother has had the portal for a while and loves it. He doesn't play any FPS games though where lag is the biggie.

Lovely.

The only part that's scares me is stick drift. I'm on my third dual sense.

I've not had this with either of my controllers yet and they're 2 years old. Fingers crossed.

Huge thanks for the head's up.

It seems to be pot luck. I'm not hard on controllers and I've never broken a single one until this generation

No worries. So glad I managed to snag one and the console so thought it was worth sharing.

Must be a couple years since I booted up the gaming PC. Have been using the Steamdeck exclusively… but may have gone and got a couple bits to play a particular style of game.
Bonus points for anyone who can guess what the seat came off.

Bit more tweaking but almost arcade steering

Jnr has been playing Astro’s playroom as a way of limiting their game playing on other devices, and providing both carrot and stick for doing what we ask.
Fuck me it’s a wonderful game and introduction to the dual sense controller. Pretty much takes you through the basics of playing games in a delightfully joyous package, seeing their delight and frustration at working out how to navigate platforming sections, throwing objects, using different buttons and the motion control, makes my own gaming journey seem positively primitive in comparison.. -

Awesome work, still my go-to arcade game. Is that running an emulator, or native PC? I tried getting it working with the PC build and my wheel, but the force feedback wouldn't work. Think it did work via the PCSX2 though.

Just starting the new Indiana Jones game. The opening sequence is wonderfully dramatic and nostalgic, albeit you know what is going to happen.

Astro Bot (the full game that came out this year) is the best game I've played in ages.

Yeah, Astros Playroom is such a good example of showing the capabilities of the controller. And is a great game to boot.
The new "full game" is on my want list, but my pile of shame is excessive.

I started it last night with the intention of just checking out the fancy rendering.
Four hours later had to force myself to turn it off and get some sleep. Having tried to avoid previews and reviews, the gameplay is not what I was expecting. Feels more like an old adventure game than the FPS I was expecting, given the semi-open world and relative lack of combat. Very impressed all round so far.

Only thing is with me is that I can't get it to run in 1440. I have the monitor and card to run it, but it's not even an option?
-

Sounds odd. Am using 21:9 @ 3440 x 1440 here.

Native PC abandonware with a modded exe. No rumble or anything, but the wheel has resistance and return to centre so it will do fine. I’ve tried to set travel and sensitivity to match arcade.

Remember enjoying playing the OG

That game was everywhere. The OG The Thing. Must have had a glut of them
Enjoyed it too. Fire and ice combo. I recall it was like the OG Prey game where you died if you got too cold as well as be being eaten by the thing.

Yeah I’ve got that on the wish list, just waiting for it to discount before purchasing for “jnr”
is it any good?
any noticable input lag?
(edit: possible new page fail - RE PlayStation Portal jazzer)
Extra edit: Can you use a Portal as a 2nd control for multiplayers?
